The time of Yeshua's (Jesus') birth was most likely on the first day of Sukkote. This holy festival is mentioned in Leviticus 23:34. Please keep in mind the the Biblical calendar is much different than the civil (Roman - Gregorian) calendar that is used in the world today. Sukkote begins somewhere within September or October. The date is not fixed (within the Roman -Gregorian) calendar due to the fact that the Biblical calendar is determined by new moons rather than an arbitrary numbering system used by the Romans.

EE is correct in stating that the celebration of Yeshua's birth was moved to coincide with the Pagan winter solstice celebration. This was done in order to combine the Pagan religion and early Messianic belief in order to consolidate the main religions practiced under Roman rule. This merging of Pagan and Messianic belief under Constatine became known as Catholicism. Those wanting a good in depth study of this info can Download "The Jonah Code and the Seventy Weeks Prophecy," or if they are of the Christian persuasion, they can visit the website of the Philidelphia Church of God website http://www.pcog.org/Default.asp?siteMapId=LiteratureLibrary and download the title, "Pagan Holidays--or God's Holy Days--Which?." The first source is from a Messianic Jew, and the second source is from a Sabbath keeping Christian Church. I am writing this not to promote ir rally against any religion but to present information and historical fact.

IIRC, The Roman festival of Saturnalia did that first (where giving gifts comes from), and Christmas usurped that.

Christmas isn't Jesus's birthday. It has been moved by the Pope back in the 1400's in order to get more Jews to convert
