Did Will Smith praise Hitler?

p2pnet news | Movies:- Did actor Will Smith praise Hitler?

Various websites and offline news outlets are saying he did.

His alleged comments came during an interview with Scotland’s Daily Record on Smith’s "work ethic".

Says reporter Siobhan Synnot:

Remarkably, Will believes everyone is basically good.

"Even Hitler didn’t wake up going, ‘let me do the most evil thing I can do today’," said Will. "I think he woke up in the morning and using a twisted, backwards logic, he set out to do what he thought was ‘good’. Stuff like that just needs reprogramming.

"I wake up every day full of hope, positive that every day is going to be better than yesterday. And I’m looking to infect people with my positivity. I think I can start an epidemic."

I Am Legend is out now.

‘As a teenager, I was too focused on sex to think about any other vices. I still am’

But in a statement, Smith says he was misreported and that Hitler is a "a vile, heinous vicious killer".

And the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) is OK with Smith’s denial.

"We welcome and accept Will Smith’s statement that Hitler was a ‘vicious killer’ and that he did not mean for his remarks about the Nazi leader to be mistaken as praise," says ADL national director Abraham H. Foxman, going on:

"Once Smith realized that his remarks may have been misunderstood, he took immediate steps to clarify his words and unequivocally condemn Hitler as an evil person. We would have expected no less from a celebrity of his standing in the strata of Hollywood stardom.

"Unfortunately, in citing Hitler in what appears to be a positive context, Smith stirred up a hornet’s nest on the Internet, where hate groups and anti-Semites latched on to the remark and praised it. If anything, this episode serves as a reminder of the power of words, and how words can be twisted by those with hate and bigotry in their hearts to suit their own worldview.

"This is why all celebrities bear a special responsibility to weigh their words carefully, and an obligation to speak out against racism and bigotry whenever even a whiff of it appears, as Will Smith has done in this instance."

I think what he was trying to say is that even the most evil people in the world do not start out that way. It typical that people with not much to be at, get all upset over a comment that they get twisted up in their interpretations of what was said.

Am I the only one who thinks this sounds logical? I totally agree.

How exactly do we define evil? It’s a human invention to make people feel better about themselves. I think we are all capable of terrible acts given the right circumstances and motivators.

To classify ourselves as good, and others as evil is a convenient simplification.

You could argue that hitler was trying to help his people. At least he saw it that way. It’s all about perspective.

I think too many people are just looking for a reason to get angry.

Sadly, even in this day of international travel, news, as well as a wealth of information over the Internet, many people do not have the ability to look beyond their limit scope of ideas.

History has shown, that good and evil fully depend on the outcome of the event, and the power that reigns after the event comes to an end.

Even the most noble of reasons can be considered a deed worthy of eternal damnation by others - for example, many tribes/cultures have been wiped from the face this earth, due to contact by Europeans (bringing disease and ways of living not fitting the lifestyle of the native people).

    Just my two cents

I believe he picked out the most ‘evil’ person he knew for that quote. Everybody knows that Hitler did ‘bad’ things. It seems that many ‘leaders’ will do this. Replace Hitler with Bush, and think about the countless acts of ‘evilness’ that he has done.
