‘Harry Potter’ specs go to a good cause

p2pnet news | Freedom:- "Harry Potter" star Daniel Radcliffe, aka Harry Potter, has donated his first pair of glasses to a special exhibition created to mark the horrors of the Holocaust.

His spectacles and eye-pieces donated by Yoko Ono, talk show host Jerry Springer, former British prime minister Tony Blair, other celebrities and members of the public will be linked together to form a railway track, "recalling the trains that carried many of the Nazis’ victims to concentration camps throughout Europe," says the Canadian Press.

The exhibition in Liverpool will open January 21 when they city hosts Britain’s Holocaust Day commemorative service on January 27, the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.

"Muslim leaders are to attend the multicultural service, which is the culmination of a series of lectures, exhibitions, stage shows and musical events recalling the Nazi atrocities and more recent genocides.," says CP, adding, "Jason Isaacs, who stars as the sinister Lucius Malfoy in the "Harry Potter" films, will also take part in the service.

"The 18-year-old Radcliffe, whose mother is Jewish, sent the oval, grey metal-framed pair of glasses he wore as a six-year-old."

A replica of the Amsterdam bedroom where Anne Frank wrote her now famous diary will open Saturday will be build inside Liverpool’s Anglican cathedral, adds the story.

More than 1,000 pairs have so far been donated, "and the public are invited to add more before its unveiling on January 21," says the Liverpool Echo.
