Is Britney Spears manic depressive?

p2pnet news | Music:- Drink or drugs may not have been involved in Britney Spears’ latest incident.

She’s been released from hospital under, reportedly, the tender care of Dr Phil McGraw who according to numerous reports says she’s in "dire need of both medical and psychological intervention."

The ‘celebrity’ psychologist rocketed to instant fame after an appearance on the The Oprah Winfrey Show.

Spears was wheeled off to hospital, pursued by packs of feral paparazzi after a stand-off in her house.

She’s said to have been incapacitated by unknown substance or substances.

However, "Although police initially believed she was intoxicated, there have been claims that she is suffering from bi-polar disorder, a form of depression," says The Telegraph.

"A source close to the singer confirmed that Miss Spears’s latest problems were not related to drink or drugs."

The term ‘bi-polar disorder’ is often used to describe manic-depression which is characterised by extreme swings in mood from intense highs to crushing lows.

On Friday, "a court commissioner suspended the right of Ms. Spears, 26, to visit the children and awarded sole physical and legal custody to Mr. Federline before scheduling another hearing for Jan. 14. Previously Mr. Federline had temporary custody, and Ms. Spears had court-monitored visitation rights," says the New York Times.

Meanwhile, "Her new single is a hit in Britain," says The Telegraph.

" Languishing at number 46 last week, Piece of Me went to 19 in this week’s singles chart."

She’s said to be considering accepting a role in a new movie in which she’d play the Virgin Mary.

“The term ‘bi-polar disorder’ is often used to describe manic-depression which is characterized by extreme swings in mood from intense highs to crushing lows.”

I believe this is backwards…I am under the impression manic-depression is an old term no longer used by the psychological community, but still in common usage in the general population. Manic-depression is to bi-polar disorder as retarded is to cognitively-impaired.

I keep hearing this idea, but i have my doubts. People keep saying it, but they never point to any symptoms. To be sure, there is footage of Britney extremely happy, and footage of her extremely sad, but nothing that looks to me like the batshit crazy euphoria of a bi-polar person in the up stage.

The mania manifests at different levels in different people; also in the mode of its expression.

I get that, i just would like something more elaborate then “Britney has bi-polar” over and over from 30 different news sources. Why? Says who? Has anyone with the qualifications to make a diagnosis even seen her? There are medications for bipolar, and they can be quite good. has she taken any of them?

  4. Mark Ivar Myhre Says:

You know, she was probably a normal person at one time.

She had talent; she became rich and famous.

Maybe she just couldn’t handle it.

I think all that attention would drive most people crazy.
