BT puts TV on Xbox

p2pnet news | TV:- Britain’s BT, the privatised state telecommunications operator, says starting in the middle of the year, it’ll offer its broadband TV service on Microsoft ’s Xbox 360 games console.

But, “unlike the dedicated set-top box the Xbox will not be able to receive or record live TV,” says the BBC, and woujd-be users will have to first subscribe to BT broadband.

The deal will add weight to Microsoft’s claim that Xbox 360 is a home entertainment hub – in the UK, at least, says The Register, noting:

“In the US Xbox Live offers an own movie and TV download rental and sales service. A similar homebrew service launched in the UK last month, and seems set to go head-to-head with BT Vision for Xbox owners’ pennies.”

But there’s no word on any revenue split, says the story.
