Ringo Starr — back home in Liverpool

p2pnet news | Music:- Ex-Beatle Ringo, 67, will Starr in the Capital of Culture People’s Opening outside St George’s Hall in his home town of Liverpool, tonight
The last time he performed in the city was at the Empire Theatre in 1992, says the Liverpool Evening Echo.
The idea is to kick off a year-long programme of more than 350 events, "to attract an extra two million visitors and boost the economy by £100m," says the BBC.
The 40-minute event will include Liverpool band The Wombats, aerial performers, hundreds of schoolchildren, air cannons, fireworks and guitarists, says the Echo story, going on Ringo will perform his new single Liverpool 8, which chronicles his early working life, "from his teenage years as a sailor and factory hand, to his time in Rory Storm and the Hurricanes, the red lights of Hamburg, and becoming a Beatle".
The story carries the words to Ringo’s musical biography, which starts off:
I was a sailor first
I sailed the sea
Then I got a job
In a factory
Played Butlins camp
With my friend Rory
It was good for him
It was great for me
CHORUS:
Liverpool I left you
Said goodbye to Madryn Street
I always followed my heart
And I never missed a beat
Destiny was calling
I just couldn’t stick around
Liverpool I left you
But I never let you down
Went to Hamburg
The red lights were on
With George and Paul
And my friend John
We rocked all night
We all looked up
We didn’t have much
But we had enough
And Yes. Liverpool 8 is on the P2P networks.

Primary school doggerel. All those years with McCartney and Lennon and he learnt nothing!
