US wants access to everything online

p2pnet news | Security:- If you’re worried about online privacy, try this on for size.

US intelligence agencies may soon have access to any and all emails, file transfers or web searches.

Proposals from National Intelligence Director Mike McConnell are included in a draft of US Cyber-Security Policy which would, "legitimise data trawling on a scale that would make the current controversy about warrantless wiretapping seem like much ado about nothing," says The Register.

McConnell believes a, "targeted attack on a US bank could have a greater financial impact than the 9/11 terrorist attacks, according to a profile in the New Yorker via The Raw Story," it says.

"Ed Giorgio, who is working with McConnell on the plan, said that would mean giving the government the autority to examine the content of any e-mail, file transfer or Web search," author Lawrence Wright pens, according to The Raw Story, which goes on:

"Google has records that could help in a cyber-investigation, he said," Wright adds. "Giorgio warned me, ‘We have a saying in this business: ‘Privacy and security are a zero-sum game’."

Put another way, McConnell’s aide believes greater security can only come at privacy’s expense.

u know the American public is fighting a war on two fronts, one group wants to kill us and the second wants to take away the rights we have fought and died for, over the last 200 years! They both look like equal threats to our way of life, take the first shot by voting the same old bunch of ear less politicians out of office.

  2. Jefferson Rundell Says:

It amazes me that we are more and more like Nazi Germany every day. Bush’s administration says private gun ownership is dangerous to the government; and now, they want to track all my web-visits. We must excersice our contsitutional duy (via the 2nd. amendment) before it is too late.

  3. bo Says:

screw it, im moving to norway. yeah yeah i know, grass is greener and all that, but seriously, this country is becoming more and more intolerable to be in. i take nothing for granted, and i am happy i dont live in the bowels of south america or africa. however, we are not a third world country, and things like this have got to stop.

  4. Reader's Write Says:

If bush had been assassinated before taking office the first time, We probably wouldn’t be dealing with most of this.
I in no way condone murder, but it sounds a lot like the “what ifs” used to justify such an insane bill. I’m wondering how long until Bush tries to annex Canada and proclaim war on another continent like seen in world war 2, (oops, half way there). I am in agreement that the US constitution is becoming nothing more than a fancy roll of toilet paper to politicians. Perhaps my father’s tinfoil hat wearing conspiracy rants weren’t so far off the mark after all.
    Soylent green anyone?

  5. Just my two cents Says:

Okay, then lets have McConnell and his aid be the first people, who’s emails web searches and file transfers “watched, for a year, and see if the are still wanting to go on with this idiocy.

How much do you want to bet that for some strange reason, they are not included in this search?

Besides, how are they going to legally be able to tell which data originates in the US and what doesn’t? I am not sure how much water the “We need to snoop through all communication that comes and goes through the US, for security” will hold, when it is in clear violation of other world privacy laws.

It’s clueless backwater people, with no REAL concept of the world around them that is fueling terror in general, if for no other reason than to “feel important”.

    Just my two cents

  6. Reader's Write Says:

Obama might come to late to save whats left of your privacy, but maybe he can undo the damage done. I will pray for you..

  7. catflap Says:

like i’d ever trust or vote for someone who hides/tries to hide his middle name – Barack HUSSEIN Obama. there must be a reason. candidates often like to use their middle names. why not him?

  8. Reader's Write Says:

The U.S would also like access to peoples homes without notice or a warrant. Random searches in each state have been mentioned.

  9. bo Says:

catflap, what are you talking about? obama is the best candidate out there, and i dont care if his middle name is adolf. i mean, what does his middle name have to do with anything. oh, i know, because ignorant, podunk people will say “ooh his middle name is hussein. he must be another iraqi dictator! i sure cant trust him.”

  10. Rob Says:

catflap. ah what will you say next “his eyes are to close together”/”his skins the wrong colour” to be a candidate. a candidate should be judged on how well he/she plans to run the USA not what name there parents gave them.

  11. Reader's Write Says:

This whole country is going to hell, I’m getting the fuck out of here as soon as I can.

  12. Bob Says:

This is what happens when you try to put different cultures together in one country: you get conflict. See the Balkans. See Africa. See Palenstine.

If we would stop this nonsense about multiculturalism and admit that we want to be with our own kind, we wouldn’t have half the problems we have.

If we could, for instance, evict that 20% of our population who, because of their culture, commit 80% of the crime in the US, think how nice things would be. Imagine 80% of the crime gone over night. 80%!!!

  13. catflap Says:

    @Rob:

what will i say next? let’s find out, shall we? ;)

    *****

    @Bob:

that sounds a very NWO-like statement. much of the western world (because of the web) is aware of the not-so-secret plans – of the not-so-secret-anymore NWO organisations – to rid the world of 80% of its population.

that may or may not happen, depending on the state of the world in 2012, which is commonly known as the year the world will end – literally or figuratively – as we know it.

Bob, when were you inducted into Skull&Bones? i’m sure i don’t want to be with your “kind”.

    *because of their culture*

…do you mean the holy and revered American gun culture that glorifies violence and capitalizes on it in every industry? are you part of that culture?

what’s the name of your private militia and where is it located? somewhere in the bible belt, like near Waco? or is it just you in a shack in utah or montana? can we read your manifesto, please?

xenophobes like you are the perfect reason why multiculturalism must thrive and continue to fight against right-wing neo-cons who would build a wall around the country. without multiculturalism, there would be no music, art, theatre, or even the internet.

Bob, please stay in your shack and just continue to download porn, and leave the rest of the educated and civilized world alone.

    *****
back to Rob: how’s that? :)

anyway, i won’t vote for Hussein, but i’d like to know why he doesn’t use his middle name publicly.

    *****

    oh, one more thing:

    miley who?

  14. Reader's Write Says:

Bush needs to be killed, he commited Treason, hes a traitor, he wants spanish to be Americas new language.

I don’t care if it’s wrong or not, he needs to die, these days you get the death penalty for bertaying your country.

Bush has killed innocent people, started a pointless evil war, abused his power, whats that equal, Death Penalty! Impeachment! Dishonest Discharge!

  15. Anonymous Defender Defenders Says:

I am ADD and I am not a hacker, I have a method we can use to confuses the U.S Government when they log users on google.

    These are the ingredients:

    Ranking Booster v2.0

Optional: Tor to chain HTTP proxies sop you won’t get tracked, and blocked by Google anti-Spam teams

A Automatic Proxy checker and list updater such as ProxyWay or something similar

and last but not least some false search entrees such as:

    www . google . com / search?hl=en&q=record+this&btnG=Google+Search
    www . google . com / search?hl=en&q=false+search+entree&btnG=Google+Search

then start your Ranking Booster Engines, and then the NSA will look at all these different false results along with the real searches.

If every American did this on earth the NSA could get pissed off.
