p2pnet.net News:- Lime Wire ceo Greg Bildson promises LimeWire 4.0, released today, includes a cast-iron, carved-in-rock, solid gold guarantee that it won’t pollute users’ systems with endless spyware and adware when they install it.

And that goes for both the Pro and Free versions, Bildson emphasises.

“Our free version will be safe and clean while our PRO version will be turbocharged for searches and downloads,” he states.

LimeWire Pro goes for $18.88 and one of the distinctive features in v 4.0 is its What’s New search function offering users the ability to track down rare content.

“Our handy breakdown of artist and album information is a step forward over the primitive search results of most applications,” says Bildson.

“And we’ve packed this version full of other new features and improvements including proxy support and international groups.”

On the legal front, LimeWire has been able to put threats of legal action behind it, says Bildson.

“Recent court decisions, including last year’s RIAA v Grokster et al, indicate p2p file sharing networks like LimeWire are indeed the wave of the future.”

LimeWire 4.0 runs on Windows, Mac and Linux and, says the company, offers:

• Better search results. Each search shows at least five times as many results as previously.
• What’s New? Users can browse the network for the most recent content additions.
• Search drill down results. Searches in LimeWire now immediately display the artists, albums and other information that fully describes files.
• Faster connections on start up.
• Proxy support. Users can now use web proxies to route their downloads to protect their identity.
• A new search progress bar in each search tab that indicates the percentage of completion of a search.
• Detection. When the Internet connection is down or a firewall is blocking access to the Internet, Lime Wire will inform the user.
• Support for International searches and International groups. Users can now search in any language, and LimeWire ensures that a user will be connected to other users with their own language to aide international users to receive search results in their native language and to find content from sources that are close to home.
• Improved downloads. By excluding the bad file sources, we rapidly make use of all the good sources for faster and more reliable downloads.
