MPAA rents new home: $30 million!

p2pnet news | MPAA News:- Speaking of the MPAA, “Welcome to the world-famous Sherman Oaks Galleria – the Center of It All” – says the, well, Sherman Oaks Galleria.
“The movie event of the year. And it’s not even a movie.”
Could this be referring to the fact the site is now also the new home for Hollywood spin outfit the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America)?
Nope. It’s just a generic promo line.
But the MPAA really is moving house to the Sherman Oaks Galleria.
It’s, “sub-leasing the 100,000-square-foot space from Warner Bros. Entertainment for the next 8 1/2 years,” says the Los Angeles Times going on::
“The group, which is based in Washington, will leave the 80,000-square-foot office it occupied for 15 years and move three blocks to take over the new space from Warner Bros. Animation, which is moving back to the studio’s Burbank lot.
“Parties involved in the transaction declined to comment on the value of the lease, but a person familiar with the deal, who asked not to be identified because terms were confidential, said the lease was worth about $30 million.”
Bidnes must be good, huh?
But it ain’t! Not according to the MPAA, anyhow.
It claims the major studios are being ruined by counterfeit crooks and file sharers with workers being laid off in their droves.
However, that’s just more Tinseltown balderdash.
Actually, the studios are doing better than ever before with online activities [read viral marketing] helping more than hindering, spurious MPAA claims to the contrary notwithstanding.
But Hey! What’s reality go to do with it?! This is Hollywood
Don’t bother to stay tuned.
