FBI’s Operation Candyman

p2pnet.net News:- Little League coaches, a teacher’s aide, a guidance counselor, school bus driver, foster care parent and professionals in the medical, educational, military and law enforcement fields, were among those charged in Phase One of Operation Candyman, a nationwide effort against online child pornography, says the FBI.

“FBI Houston initiated an investigation after an undercover agent identified three Yahoo! Egroups involved in posting, exchanging and transmitting child pornography,” it says here.

“One website depicted the Egroup as the following:

‘This group is for People who love kids. You can post any type of messages you like too or any type of pics and vids you like too. P.S. IF WE ALL WORK TOGETHER WE WILL HAVE THE BEST GROUP ON THE NET’.”

The Candyman Egroup was an integral component in the year-long Innocent Images investigation and “allowed collectors and distributors of child pornography to use online resources to retrieve and distribute child pornography,” says the FBI here.

To date, 231 searches have been executed, 86 individuals charged in more than 26 states, and, “27 of these individuals admitted to the prior molestation of over 36 children,” it states.

FBI Houston identified 7,000 unique E-mail addresses with 2,400 of the addresses outside of United States and 4,600 located domestically, says the FBI, adding:

“Subpoenas were issued on all of the Internet providers for the addresses within the United States.”
