Yahoo DomainKeys
p2pnet.net News:- Yahoo! has decided to do its bit towards stemming the flood spam which still swamps many peoples’ ‘incoming’ folders, attempts to halt the flow with efforts such as the US Can-Spam Act notwithstanding.
The company has released Dubbed DomainKeys which embeds outgoing messages with an encrypted digital signature matched to a signature on the server, says TechTree.com here.
With it, "ISPs could use the signatures on incoming messages and block those that do not match up," says TechTree, adding that the procedure would be invisible to regular e-mail users because it would be implemented by email providers.
"Yahoo will implement DomainKeys in its e-mail systems at some point next year," says ComputerWeekly.com here. "It has already approached antispam organisations and individual e-mail suppliers to present DomainKeys, and has claimed to have had positive feedback."
The story also has IDC analyst Jonathan Gaw pointing out, "They’ll have to convince a lot of people to co-operate with them. It’s going to take a lot of effort on Yahoo’s part to get everybody on board."
