Don Imus: more mouth troubles

p2pnet news | Radio:- Don Imus’ mouth has him in trouble again.
He was also only recently reinstated after being fired for calling the Rutgers University women’s basketball team, with eight African-American and two white players, “nappy-headed hos”.
Now he’s being sued for more than $4 million in compensatory damages.
An advertiser on his former show, “says the radio shock jock badmouthed the company and called its commercials for a book by the late President Gerald Ford ‘cheesy’,” says Associated Press, going on:
“Flatsigned Press Inc., a book publisher based in Nashville, Tenn., says Imus insulted the company last year in ads it paid for to promote a book by Ford on the Warren Commission’s investigation into the 1963 assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
“On his ‘Imus in the Morning’ show, the talker told WFAN listeners the publishers ‘have been waiting for (Ford) to croak so they can unload these (books),’ the lawsuit claims.”
“Besides calling the ad spots ‘cheesy,’ Imus said of Ford’s death, ‘Now that he’s flatLINED, you go to flatSIGNED.com,’ the lawsuit filed in Manhattan’s state Supreme Court says.”
Flatsigned’s sales dropped $40,000 a day for several months after Imus’ “libelous and disparaging statements,” court papers say. The papers also say stores refused to stock the book because of his comments, According to AP, which adds:
“At a point where Imus was supposed to say Ford hand-signed the books before he died, Imus asked, ‘How else would he sign them, with his foot?’ the lawsuit says.”

It sounds like he’s being sued for not being funny. They are either greedy, hard up for money, or think Imus hurt their sales. What better time to take it to the courts than when public opinion is aligned with them. So why has it taken Flatsigned this long to start bring the lawsuit?
They could have better spent the advertising money elsewhere but one need only listen to the show to hear his lack of humor.
This doesn’t apply to others on the show like Charles and Bernard who are often funny. Maybe Flatsigned should just have someone else read the commercial…

Maybe the above poster should LEARN HOW TO READ!
If he did, he might see that it was about more than just Imus not being funny!
the guy has a very smart mouth…it got him in trouble before and looks like it has gottren him in it again. His fault! Nobody else is to blame.

” Maybe the above poster should LEARN HOW TO READ! ”
Maybe you should too .. start with this.
” Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. ”
Try to comprehend that this includes people who have opinions that you don’t like.

Shut up fuck! You apparently cannot understand that the constitution guarantees that I also have a right to my opinion!
And the constitution does NOT guard against slander…. asshole! Now Don Imus has opened his mouth BEFORE and it got him in serious hot water because of his RACIST comments. If you cannot understand what kind of guy he is, you are stupid!
Where the hell do you get off telling me what I should think? Go fuck yourself!

” Shut up fuck! You apparently cannot understand that the constitution guarantees that I also have a right to my opinion! ”
hmmm.
Not much reading comprehension.
As I said ..
” Try to comprehend that this includes people who have opinions that you don’t like. ”
Like your opinion.
I don’t like it, you have the right to express it.
” And the constitution does NOT guard against slander ”
No, it does not. You are correct.
Calling those girls Nappy headed hoes, while ignorant and stupid is as much slander as
.. well, calling me an Asshole . Not slander. Boorish, perhaps, but not slander.
” An advertiser on his former show, “says the radio shock jock badmouthed the company and called its commercials for a book by the late President Gerald Ford ‘cheesy’,” says Associated Press, going on:
” “On his ‘Imus in the Morning’ show, the talker told WFAN listeners the publishers ‘have been waiting for (Ford) to croak so they can unload these (books),’ the lawsuit claims.”

Still sounds like an opinion, and a joke in very poor taste.
Still not slanderous.
” Where the hell do you get off telling me what I should think? Go fuck yourself! ”
You also said this …
” Maybe the above poster should LEARN HOW TO READ!
If he did, he might see that it was about more than just Imus not being funny! ”
So, it’s ok for you to tell other “what to think”, and yet if someone disagrees with you
they should .. ” Go fuck themselves ” ??
Interesting.
That is precisely what ..
” Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. ”
.. this .. is designed to prevent.
People like you oredring others to confirm to their ideas of slander and ‘correct’ speech,
and forcing others to ” go fuck themselves “.
Protecting us from people like you
As it is now, thank goodness, at least in the US You can tell me to ‘go fuck myself ‘ and I
can laugh at your high school namecalling publicly, without fear of jail time because of ..
” Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. ”
this
