John Smith, McDonalds McD

p2pnet news | Music:- Soon, instead of John Smith, PhD, it’ll be John Smith, McD.

We couldn’t believe it when we learned learned Scouts in Hong Kong and America were being indoctrinated by Hollywood under a spurious ‘education’ scheme which has them working for copyright merit badges.

Copyright law is something every Scout needs to know, of course.

Now, McDonalds has been empowered to award nationally recognised qualifications.

Says the Financial Times:

“The fast food company has been attacked by critics in Britain’s post-industrial era for pioneering so-called ‘McJobs’ – low-paid, low-skilled service employment that largely replaced high-skilled work in old manufacturing industries.

“The company’s latest feat however puts it on the same level as Cambridge University’s famous OCR exam board. McDonald’s will now have the power to award nationally recognised vocational qualifications at Levels One, Two and Three, according to England’s Qualifications and Curriculum Authority.

“Level Three qualifications are equivalent to A-Levels, though McDonald’s will not offer A-Levels or any other academic qualifications.”

UK prime minister Gordon Brown, “has defended the accreditation of in-company qualifications after it was announced that staff at McDonald’s could gain the equivalent of an A-level in burger bar management,” says Guardian Unlimited.
