I downloaded it just to check it out, like I do with a lot of software and I must say in its current state it is as useful as a rock. They have it out as a beta version for testing and the only features that work are the ones that are in Song Bird. So were we meant to test Song Bird or QTrax? Whats up with using a program that hasn’t even hit version 1.0 yet to be the basis of another service that is still in testing. You then run into the problem with is the bug in Song Bird or is it a problem with QTrax. Then on top of all of that they don’t even have the deals with the record labels like they claimed. Well I take what I first said back. A rock is a lot more useful than this program currently is.

I know how to use P2P. Frostwire is on my computer. From time to time I use it and it’s legal in Canada to download but I prefer subcription services like yahoo music unlimited or napster.ca because it’s organized, immdeiate and virus free. it comes with radio like playlists and reviews, bio’s , video’s etc. for .50 cents a day i spend more of my time listening to music than looking for it. i really don’t mind paying $15 a month for access to music. as a musician i feel the music and the effort is worth something and musicans should be getting something from me for contributing to my enjoyment of life.ddbann

The most interesting part of this post is that ddbann does have and use Frostwire and
IS FULLY AWARE that it is legal in Canada. So all of his legal or not legal posturing.

In this he is absolutely correct.
The labels will NEVER let this happen.
I believe he know this as well, in the same way he was already aware of the
legal status of downloading in canada.

How can ANYONE honestly believe that the labels will ever treat their artists fairly ?

This is true.
That’s why I buy second hand CD’s from Pawn shops and rip them to my
home network.

I get what I want.
RIAA Labels get nothing from me.
It’s much cheaper ( 1.00 $US for a used cd )
AND it’s unquestionably legal.

( I can also use the resulting Mp3 files in anyway, or on any device I
choose, without going through DRM hoops .. nice )

There are already a ton of clients that use the very same Gnutella network.
Some of them work really well, and have no drm problems.

No one wants this, no one cares.

So I signed up for the supposed email notification using various email addressen over the several eons that qtrax has been promsing the earth. Nichts, zip, niente. A bit like grooveshark really. Not entirely sure what the aborted release announcement was supposed to achieve, apart from ridicule.

I don’t consider screenshots as proof of famous vapouware actually out in the real world as spam. If you don’t think this is a big step forward for the music industry which changes at a disabled half dead snail’s pace I think your wrong.
