Nice read :)

I think though there will be a bigger revolution, one where the big 4 and all others leeching from artists will fall.
Artists will come together and publish/distribute on their own without loosing money to obsolete dinosaurs.

Eventualy they will make their own site, and spread their works instantly all over the world for millions of people.
They will use Bittorrent and the content will be free, as they will have superior distribution they can accept donations and enjoy a great income dispite giving away their content for free.

Good and bad content will be rewarded freely and fairly, people will be able to find content they like by seeding through all content freely, picking what they want and most likely donate.
One major stick in the wheel is a new paying system, one witch do not take fees like ie paypal. The second stick in the wheel is ofcourse the dinosaurs that fear their extinction and rightfully so.

Though some projects are closing in, they all have major flaws. Be it either hidden handling fees, DRM, Usability etc. The biggest flaw is that ALOT of money is going to obsolete corperations, the artist is the one to be rewarded and aslong as ways continue as today that will never truly happen.
Most can be blaimed on artists themselves for wanting to distribute and shoosing the easy way, options were limited in those days though.
But they are not limited anymore and we see increasing amounts of artists trying to break free.

With Artists i mean all kinds of content creators ofcourse, corperations given copyright for distributing content are no longer needed and are only stealing income for artists. Only "income" they should be allowed to steal is a percentage of CD sales, as thats what the artists "employed" them for.

Ultimately the problem lies with Copyright laws.

Have a good week! ;)

^^ By way of explanation, I deleted four or five comments by David in Qtrax offline. They weren’t signed and I thought they were more Qtrax spam.

Differences of opinion are fine. Trying to use p2pnet comment posts for free advertising, especially for this kind of (IMHO) junk product, isn’t.

Sorry, David.

Cheers!

Jon invited me to make a post and sign it. Ok.

No Qtrax isn't perfect and although the client is out the downloads for free are still forthcoming.
It's a beta client and has taken aprox. 8 years to get this far. Talks with the 4 majors are ongoing and will hopefully be resolved soon.

I think this is a good step forward. I don't mind buying and or renting music in addition to geting music for free.

Most people here won't want Qtrax. I have Frostwire but even though I am in canada and any music downloading is claimed legal i just can't bring myself to do it anymore.

Will Qtrax be fair to artists? I don't know. Is the blank CD levy in Canada fair to artists AND to everyone who buys blank CD's for NON music burning purposes?

If Qtrax can line up deals with the 4 Majors and I find it iseful I would pay for a subscription and or buy singles and or listen to music for free in exchange for clicking or viewing ads.

If copyright legislation came out in canada and for eg. a flat fee on my ISP gave my all the legal music I could want and use Frostwire to get it I would rather do that than Qtrax.

I have tried SpiralFrog but the selection is limited.
At this point talks are underway and hopefully I can download some music with Qtrax very soon.

there that's my Qtrax rant. Stop. David B./ddbann
