Apple TV still isn’t ready

p2pnet news | TV:- On NO!

Macolytes will have to wait to be able to rent movies through Apple TV.

Steve & Co are now trying to talk punters into believing renting kamikaze flicks on iTunes store is something they [should] want to do.

"You’ll have to pay $3 for ‘older’ flicks, $4 for newer ones and $5 for high-definition versions," p2pnet posted recently, going on:

"Then comes the kicker:

"Once you’ve started watching a movie, you have 24 hours to finish it or it self-destructs. And it does the same if you don’t watch it within 30 days."

Apple had promised to have the free upgrade available by the end of this month, but alas, "the company announced today that customers will have to wait another week or two for it," says the Mercury News.

"It’s as if Apple had launched an iPod that sounds like a cassette player," said Associated Press tech writer Peter Svensson of Apple TV last year.

Says the Mercury News, "The first iteration of the device was a disappointment, as company CEO Steve Jobs acknowledged earlier this month at Apple’s Macworld conference. The software update is an attempt to address some of the shortcomings of the device and Apple’s video service."

Not only but also, "The software delay is only the latest in the last year for the company," the story states, adding:

"Last year, the company postponed the release of both Apple TV and Leopard, the latest version of its Macintosh operating system."

But Jobs knows Apple fanatics will take whatever he cares to dish out, and at whatever price, with nary a word of complaint, and the lamescream media will go along with it.

Why does it seem to me that the previous quote just enforces the line from the story =)

I agree that stories about Britney Spears’ social life are complete crap, but this isn’t. If it’s technology related, it’s relevant to this site.

Jon, don’t post Britney Spears or celeb crap. That’s what the E! channel’s for. Killing the brains of the world.

People who visit this site want technology news. Who’ll release the first 2TB hard drive. Is Blu-ray gonna win the war.

    Bottom line, stop posting gossip.
