Captain America: back from the dead!
p2pnet news | Off Topic:- "Marvel Entertainment superhero Captain America is dead," p2pnet posted almost exactly a year ago.
"Shot by a sniper in the 25th issue of the comic book in which he stars, Captain America takes bullets in the shoulder and stomach."
You can’t, though, keep a good superhero down.
Now Bucky Barnes, "good buddy and sidekick from the 1940s," has, "picked up the bulletproof Captain America shield, put on a new uniform and taken his place," says Associated Press.
But, "Wouldn’t Bucky be about 85 years old now?" – wonders AP. "And without any real super powers to fall back on, isn’t that kind of long in the tooth to be taking a bite out of crime?"
Yeah …
… "But remember, this is the comic book world we’re talking about. Bucky was put in suspended animation by the evil Russians (back when they were evil) and stayed that way for the better part of 60 years."
So, "he’s probably in his late 20s right now," says Marvel editor-in-chief Joe Quesada, "who decided to promote him to Captain America," says AP.
Meanwhile, "Retailer reaction was mixed to ‘Captain America’ No. 34, in which Captain America’s former sidekick Bucky became the new Captain America," says NewsOK.com.
"Though retailers said the new Captain was drawing fan interest, the largest question was about the new Captain America’s use of a firearm."
But, "The new Captain America will need more than just the proper tools to stop the Red Skull’s elaborate scheme to smash America," says comicbookresources.com, "he’ll also need plenty of cunning.
"The opening move of the Skull’s plot could be described as economic warfare, which given the U.S.’s recent real life economic trouble, may have come across to some readers as ripped from the headlines. ‘It’s kind of funny that a script I wrote awhile back and which I had been planning the whole time, comes out two weeks after world stock markets are plunging based on how bad the American economy has been doing,’ [Captain America writer Ed] Brubaker remarked.
"’My story features a simplified version of the housing crisis. I have people getting their houses foreclosed not just because of the subprime loan but I do mention it."
Could it be more up-to-date?

Oh, holy crap, so this was all a PC stunt to get a black Captain America? How retarded is that? If some PC is good, more is better! Quick, make him a lesbian, too!

So…shouldn’t the title of this article be “Captain America: black from the dead?”

What’s all this about a black Cap? Bucky Barnes was white. A more recent Bucky character was introduced in the 80s, and HE was black, but he changed his name to Battlestar when he was told the term “Buck” was racially derogatory.
Anyway, any comic book fan could have told you that they’d bring back Cap, even before they killed him off. Same thing with Superman’s death years ago. In fact, Cap himself came back from seeming death back in the 60s, after Kirby did a tribute issue.
Ploys to induce increased sales are terrible storytelling and make for rotten continuity. If Marvel and DC don’t learn that, they’ll only reap sales from the gullible (i.e. not me).

That is stupid…. pure and simple. Killing off a main superhero character was stupid in the first place, but this is even more dumb!
I hope they don’t make any money and go broke. Serves them right for killing off Captain America.
