Miley Cyrus 3D No 1
p2pnet news | Movies:- That laughter you hear is Disney on its way to the bank.
Because its Hannah Montana / Miley Cyrus’ Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour 3D flick right was No 1 at North American box offices over the weekend.
“With $13 million on its opening weekend, the horror film ‘The Eye’ (Lionsgate and Paramount Vantage), starring Jessica Alba as a blind violinist, took second place, the tracking company Media by Numbers reported,” says the New York Times.
27 Dresses (Fox) drew $8.4 million to hold on to third place for a second consecutive week and at $7.4 million, fourth place went to Jun” (Fox Searchlight), “lifting this little film’s nine-week total to $110.2 million,” says the story.
The exclusive event comes to theaters across the U.S. and Canada from February 1 through February 7, 2008.
Says the San Francisco Chronicle:
“They have strapped tight stilettos to their big hairy feet with duct tape. Some are wearing long, stringy, blond wigs and miniskirts. In a rain-soaked parking lot in St. Louis, more than 150 grown men have gathered to run a “high-heel derby” in the hopes of winning tickets to the sold-out opening night of the Hannah Montana tour from a local radio station.
“The guys stumble, fall and generally embarrass themselves in front of some very big cameras filming the scene for the new concert movie ‘Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour,’ which opened a one-week run at the Metreon on Friday. Did we mention it all takes place in 3-D?
“The scene shows the lengths desperate parents went to last fall to score tickets to the Disney Channel star’s 54-date concert tour, which sold out within minutes and inspired scalpers to reportedly resell seats for as high as $20,000. The few dads that briefly appear onscreen – even the ones who walk away from the race empty-handed – are still paying the price.”
