Universal Music Group is, say the two companies, the first music firm to decide to use the modu.

It can be, "slipped" into a wide variety of modu jackets and modu mates, " consumer electronic devices that are modu-enabled so users can, "create an entirely new communication experience," promises the company.

Music jackets would incorporate, "mobile phone features" and "music content" in very large varieties at affordable prices" says modu’s Jacob Shama

The company was established by Dov Moran and colleagues from msystems, a company he founded and sold to SanDisk in 2006 for $1.6 billion, says the company, going on that it wants to, "bring a fundamental change to the dynamics of the mobile phone industry".

The official launch will be at at the Mobile World Congress, being held in Barcelona, Spain, this month, with Telecom Italia SpA in Italy, OAA Vimpel Communications in Russia and Cellcom Israel intorducing it on October 1.
