Jaws star Roy Scheider dead

p2pnet news | Movies:- Roy Scheider, star of The French Connection, Jaws and All That Jazz, died yesterday afternoon, aged 75.
He’d been battling a form of blood cancer for three years, says Los Angeles Times.
“He was nominated for a best supporting actor Oscar in 1971’s ‘The French Connection,’ in which he played the police partner of Oscar winner Gene Hackman, and for best actor for 1979’s ‘All That Jazz’,
But he’ll probably be best remembered the police chief in Steven Spielberg’s 1975 Jaws, the first movie to earn $100 million at the box office.
As a child, says the Wikipedia, “Scheider was an athlete, participating in organized baseball and boxing competitions. He attended Columbia High School in Maplewood, New Jersey, and was inducted into the school’s hall of fame in 1985.
“He traded his boxing gloves for the stage, studying drama at both Rutgers University and Franklin and Marshall College, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. After three years in the United States Air Force, he appeared with the New York Shakespeare Festival, and won an Obie Award in 1968.”
