Woman Tasered at Best Buy
p2pnet news | Off Topic:- In a new police Taser outrage, a woman was shot with one of the electrically charged darts when she tried to leave a Best Buy store after her credit card was rejected.
Elizabeth Beeland, a yoga teacher and holistic healer, "had gone to the electronics store on International Speedway Boulevard to buy a CD player for her father," says the Daytona Beach News Journal, going on:
"As she handed the cashier her purchase and a credit card, though, Beeland received a call from her husband concerning bad news about the couple’s daughter.
"An emotional Beeland stepped outside the store so she could speak to her husband privately. She left her credit card with the cashier and her transaction unfinished.
"That move indirectly sparked a series of miscommunications that ended with Beeland getting shot in the abdomen with a 50,000-volt Taser by officer Claudia Wright."
The Daytona Beach News Journal continues:
According to her report, Wright was called over by the cashier after Beeland walked outside that afternoon because the cashier assumed the credit card might be stolen.
When Wright caught up with Beeland just outside the store, the officer said Beeland began yelling at her, even at one point using the F-word.
Wright said she asked Beeland to calm down. She then asked Beeland to step inside the store so it could be determined whether the credit card left with the cashier was hers. Once inside, Wright states Beeland kept yelling at her and causing disruption. She says Beeland’s screaming drew a crowd of patrons. Wright said she told Beeland that if she didn’t calm down, she would be arrested.
Finally, Wright warned Beeland that if she didn’t quit the commotion, she would have to deploy her Taser.
A Best Buy surveillance camera tape is now running on YouTube.
In it, Beeland is motioning with her hands and talking to Wright, saus the story, adding:
"She is seen slowly backing away as the officer advances. Then, in one fell swoop, the tape shows Wright reaching for the Taser gun and shooting Beeland in the abdomen. She crumpled to the floor."
In Canada, a man died after being Tasered in Vancouver Airport, BC, late last year.
In the US, "Carry your TASER C2 and music in one convenient case," says the company who makes the weapoin.
"The 1 GB TASER MPH Holster offers you both security and music while on the go," it gushes, adding
"Let innovative design, unparalleled performance, and breakthrough style help you make a statement.
"Who says safety can’t be stylish?"
Dana Leigh Shafman would agree. She’s marketing $300 to $350 ‘lady Tasers’ online.
Meanwhile, Beeland won’t be prosecuted, the state attorney has promised, says the Daytona Beach News Journal.

She was lucky she wasn’t using $2 bills to pay for her CD player, otherwise she’d be in the gulag right now!
I hate Best Buy, and I hate overzealous pigs!

They should call it Bzzzzt Buy now instead.

see, you better not try to buy stuff (here: CD-Player) that you could use to play Big4″product”.
It will only have negative consequences (one way or another)!

Spent years in cardiology, tasers WILL kill people.

Why not just lesson the power of tasors? I made a 300V tasor out of a disposable camera… damn that hurts!

“Why not just lesson the power of tasors? I made a 300V tasor out of a disposable camera⦠damn that hurts!”
its not the volts that kill its the amps. yes i can see many cardiology patents dying because of these. which raises the question why not tranquilizers or nerve agents? they will have you out cold in 20 seconds(or groggy in smaller dosage) and if they need to drop you quicker than this then guns.

I think that from now on, whenever a cop uses a taser on someone without sufficient provocation, the penalty should be that they get the taser used on THEM. I’ll bet that would cut down on cops reaching for a taser every time someone argues with them.

Do the police no longer get any training for situations like this other than pull out your taser? Any dumb shit can taser someone. Unarmed civilians being tasered because the police have no other skills to deal with the situation.

yes, this is wrong.
Some cop are clearly abusing their tasers. Taser should be used only in case of danger, not when you get made with a citizen! When you are a cop sometime you have to deal with difficult people and situations. Well it is part of the job and they are supposed to be trained for that. if they can not handle this then they have no business beeing a cop! Dam it!
Unless some type of reasonable guideline concerning the use of taser is enforced we will have to take these things away from the cop. Sorry.
Alternatively we will get ourself one of these and we will tase any cop that dare to argue with us just in case he/she might want to tase us.
Sorry again but we have the right to defend ourselves.

It’s not that tasers can kill or could kill people.
They have killed people and continue to do so.
If everyone that gets upset and stops what they are currently doing (in a shop or elsewhere) is a ’suspected criminal’ ripe for tasering, there’s going to be a lot of unfortunate senior citizens dying after being told of a family grievance then being hassled by a cop for getting sidetracked.
Only in the US could it be deemed a public disturbance to ‘Knowingly Stop a Purchase in mid consumer mode’.
Halt. Bzzzzt. Halt. Bzzzt. You must buy these items!! Bzzzt. Buy them now!! Bzzztt..

If it is your police policy (as the guy on this tape says) to taser people who are backing away, for backing away, because backing away is resisting arrest, even though no crime has been defined, I think it is time to rethink how free and civilised your country really is.

“Beeland wonât be prosecuted, the state attorney has promised…”
So, what about prosecuting “officer” Claudia Wright for unnecessary use of force & reckless endangerment? She’s probably some private rent-a-cop security guard on a power trip. People like that need to be taken down a few pegs.

I was flipping through the channels one night and I found a Canadian version of cops. The segment in progress showed a hostile drunk guy demanding to see a cop’s badge. The cop politely refused and told the guy to go home or he’d be arrested. This went one for like 5-10 minutes. In the end, the cop convinced the guy to leave (still hostile). If it had been an American cop, the guy would have been tackled to the ground, maced, cuffed and thrown in the back of a squad car within the first two minutes.
