Demonstrators storm Scientology HQs

p2pnet news | Freedom:- Online Scientology protesters made good their promise to stage international demonstrations.

Wearing Guy Fawkes masks, they massed outside HQs around the world to cult disrupt business.

“CALL TO ARMS 12 02/10/08 11:00AM (respective timezones) Worldwide,” Anonymous had posted on p2pnet and on other sites everywhere and that Sunday, “Ron is Gone by the Con still goes On - xnut.net,” said a placard wielded by demonstrators outside the organisation’s office on Yonge Street, Toronto, Canada (right).

“Honk if you hate Tom Cruise,” said another in Melbraid, Australia.

Said a demonstrator’s sign in Washington, DC, “Warning Scam Ahead Greedy Cult Zone”.

And in Edinburgh, Scotland, “Xenu.net,” said a fourth sign, referring to the Anonymous site.

“Close to 100 cities had pickets with 10.000 people involved,” said zenu.net, claiming the demo was the largest organised picket against this cult ever!

“Anonymous, who have been asked by many to stick with legal and peaceful activities, have announced that this picket is only the beginning,” it adds.

Today it was Scientology.

But tomorrow it will be the RIAA and MPAA because for the first time in history, the Net allows people around the world to communicate with each other instantly, totally bypassing the corporate news and information media which used to be our sole means of contact.

We can get along just fine without them.

But they’ll die without us.

And thanks to the Net, we can prove it.

Scientology isn’t the first organisation to be on the receiving end of Net-inspired protests.

As more and more blogs and sites go up and more and more people open online accounts, it’s becoming increasingly harder for the Powers that Used to Be and the corporate lamescream media to pretend the demos aren’t happening.

So don’t just stay tuned, join in because although it may start online, it doesn’t stay there.

  1. OMG Says:

I cannot BELIEVE the amount of misinformation in this story! I can’t even touch on all of it without spending FAR MORE TIME than I’m willing…. But for starters, xenu.net is NOT nor WAS IT EVER a site operated by “Anonymous”.

Also, “peaceful protest” (which is what it was, with no large-scale protest-related arrests reported ANYWHERE) connotes something vastly different than a “storm”ing. What a piss-poor choice of words.

You need to re-examine your journalistic integrity. I think it’s on hiatus.

  2. Reader's Write Says:

Yes you are right. it was only a warning shoot, as disturbing as it was for the scientology management of parasites. Make no mistake. This the begining of the end of your evil business guys!

Scientology is a business based on parasitisme, just like the entertainment industry and it will be destroyed.

Scientologists! You ar beeing ripped-off on a massive scale! These guys are ruining your lives You should not have to pay for it!

We are going to bring down the parasites who are exploiting you! We have to do it!

  3. Anonymous Says:

As much as Anonymous loves free speech, someone should shut this guy up.

This article would have been more concise and a better reflection of what happened during the protests if it has been written in a made up language and filled with pictures of horses.

  4. Jon Says:

‘Storm’ was the wrong word to use. The problem is: I can only get so many words into a given headline and I wanted to convey this was considerably more than just a penny-anti demo.

    Cheers!

  5. Reader's Write Says:

I thought I was going to see some Tom Cruise mudkips . :(

  6. Eric Says:

From all the videos I saw, there was no “storm”. Most of the “raids” (which Anon called them) were simply peaceful protests. The Atlanta, Georgia one attracted riot cops, but they didn’t bully the crowd. Even London was peaceful despite a huge turnout and lots of yelling.

Also, what is “xnut.net”? Some sort of castration website?

  7. Lu Says:

Agree with most what was commented before. Get a journalist on the job, fast.

  8. Jon Says:

^^ I guess I’d better close the site.

    *sigh*

    ;)

    Cheers!

  9. Reader Says:

i never knew there was a place called Melbraid

  10. Bananymous Says:

I can’t figure out a few things here. Xenu, for example, isn’t that hard to spell, but you managed to find at least three ways to do it.

Xenu.net is not an Anonymous site. It is run by Andreas Heldal-Lund, a Norwegian critic of the “church.”

    Jon, I don’t want to hurt your feelings, but this is just very poorly researched and badly written. The following sentence is wrong in so very many ways;
“Wearing Guy Fawkes masks, they massed outside HQs around the world to cult disrupt business.”

We were not there to “cult disrupt business.” We were there to inform people about the abusive behavior this organization has indulged in for far too long. You need to use your spell checker, assure yourself of the facts and proof your work before posting it.

And finally, what is this confabulation about Anonymous’ next target? The RIAA and MPAA? Did I miss the memo, or are you trying to stir up panic at the corporate level?

You are right about one thing. This began with the web, but it won’t end there. It has emerged into real life, with over 9000 participants joining to protest Scientology abuses (not beliefs) on an unprecedented global scale!

The next event will be on the Ides of March.
    Expect us.

  11. moneen Says:

Religions no longer have the right to undermine democratic choices.
Scientology must respect the democratic right of people to demonstrate against them.
The days of Cromwell, The Spanish Inquisition & other religious persecution of people are dead & buried.
Never allow them to rise up again.

  12. Anonymous Says:

Golly Jon, you could see the spelling of XENU in all those placards, yet, you still managed to get it wrong? Seriously, if you are going to attempt journalsim you need to be accurate. Or at least be able to read accurately. Oh well, you came across as a fool, really. Don’t give up your day-job. Because you’d certainly never put food on the table with presentations as you have provided in the above “story”.

  13. Anon23 Says:

Anonymous is much better at writing our own stories: http://www.encyclopediadramatica.com/Gas_Mask_Girl

  14. Jon Says:

To Pseud Anonymous above Anon23, it might have been better to have copied the whole of the posts above yours instead of merely parroting them. And as for your only original thought (and not very original at that), this is my day job ;)

As for Anon23, it’s not hard to see where your mind dwells.

    Meanwhile, http://www.p2pnet.net/story/14956

    Cheers!

  15. Anon Says:

    Dear Jon,

The fact that this is your day job was the point of that bit from him, I believe. It was meant to imply that you aren’t very good at it, which I would have to agree with as this is my only observation of your works so far. I’d look up other bits and learn more about what you’ve written in the past, but I don’t really have the inclination to do so without it being about the Anon crusade against $cientology, so I’ll have to bid you adieu with a “Dude, what”?

  16. spayced Says:

“‘Honk if you hate Tom Cruise,’ said another in Melbraid, Australia. ”
Do you mean Melbourne, Australia? Don’t feel down mate, you’re getting FREE grammar, spellcheck, and editing. Most people have to pay their editors. They want food and shelter, the greedy bastards.
