Islamic extremists plot to kill cartoonist

p2pnet news | Freedom:- With the number of signatures to an online petition launched by an anti-freedom of speech group to force the Wikipedia to take down picures of the prophet Mohammed now at 142,380 (4:10 AM Pacific), and growing by the minute, Danish authorities have arrested 12 people planning to murder Kurt Westergaard, one of 12 cartoonists who caused a storm with their caricatures in 2005.

His work appeared in Denmark’s Morgenavisen Jyllands-Posten.

"The group arrested includes Danish as well as foreign citizens," says the newspaper, going on, "The Danish Security and Intelligence Service have followed the group for months."

Westergaard, 73, has been under police protection since receiving death threats after the drawings were published, according to Jyllands-Posten’s editor-in-chief, Carsten Juste, quoted by Bloomberg News, which goes on:

"The newspaper has received bomb threats and its journalists have been subjected to ‘countless death threats,’ Juste told broadcaster TV2 today.

But, "This doesn’t change in any way my perception that we need to work against dark forces that want to fight against freedom of speech,” Juste said.

The Muslim Islamic Community in Denmark spokesman Kasem Said Ahmad, told TV2, "We want a decent tone between Muslims and Danes. But we maintain our view that the cartoons were provocative.’ "We have warned that the situation could get out of control."

Bloomberg adds Denmark’s Royal Library said it was in talks to acquire the 12 caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad and, "The library said it would treat the cartoons as it does the books in its collection, and would allow patrons to sign to view them."

  1. Reader's Write Says:

    Good jobe Danish secret service!

Throw these piece of shit in prison and throw the key away!

We don’t need bigots in our society particularly those so extreme that they are ready to kill!

Thank you for defending our freedom of speach!

  2. Rekrul Says:

Does anyone find it ironic that the same muslims who want to see the cartoonist dead are the exact same ones who inspired the cartoons in the first place?

  3. Reader's Write Says:

Everytime something like this happens, each one of us needs to make sure that it backfire so bad that it will make them think twice before trying to infringe on freedom of speach in future. I encourage everyone to seak out these drawings, and post them everywhere you can; on your blog, on your web page, email them to friends, ETC.
