Imeem — Snocap’s new owner

p2pnet news | Music:- Shawn Fanning`s Snocap may be on the verge of total meltdown, said a p2pnet post late last year, wondering, “Is it finally going under?”
It was, and the new owner is music streaming site Imeem, for an undisclosed price.
“Last year they … partnered with Imeem, who may see an acquisition as a better end result than Snocap simply shutting down,” says TechCrunch, going on:
“Imeem uses Snocap’s digital fingerprinting technology to track how many times any particular song is streamed on its site so that it can allocate a portion of its advertising dollars to the major music labels. Without Snocap’s technology, Imeem would have to find a replacement quickly, or find a new business model.”
It’s the second acquisition for Imeem in as many months, says the story, noting, “in January they acquired Anywhere.FM”
Fanning, meanwhile, is now focused on his latest venture, Rupture.
It’s an, “online destination connecting gamers around the world, allowing them to share gaming experiences, events, challenges and achievements,” says the site.
“Our system automatically tracks information about what you do in games (if you ask it to), and presents in a way that makes it easy for your friends to check them out.”
