The problem with the stuff this says is that the police will not use URL filtering, they use domain. Everybody knows that the criminals will hide their bad stuff behind sites that look legal, hiding it in the URL. You have to know that the bad stuff is placed under /illegal/ or whatever sub folder on the site, or by adding /illegal.html/ to access the page. When somebody like Nikki only checks the base domain and sees the /index.html/ and decides its not illegal, he only displays a lack of understanding how criminals use the net. Sometimes they rip a legal domain and place it on their own domain, adding child porn in between. For guys like Nikki they then look legal.. I find this Nikki-type kinda silly, hiding his real agenda behind a "I want to prevent Finland from becoming China"-attitude..

It was just a matter of time before such a list was abused, it comes as no suprise then to find the rank and file police officers are probably as perplexed as Matti over any individual sites inclusion in the list and would therefore be unable to give lucid and logical answers regarding this abuse of public trust.

I would just like to add that the "voluntary" censorship is voluntary in the sense that it was publicly stated that if it didn't catch on, more drastic measures would be taken. Clearly unconstitutional.

The problem with selling mom, apple pie, and its for the kids, has always come down to one thing. Censorship, plain and simple. While I have no sympathy for the pedophile, the censorship always starts this way and then expands. It is what government red tape does. Once it has a place, it's function then is to expand. In expanding, more and more is gobbled, more employees are needed, more funding, a bigger building, etc. It never slows, sleeps, or stops.

Vigilante.
The police in Suomi are now acting as vigilantes.
