Top Bush aide admits he’s a plagiarist

p2pnet news | Off Topic:- Tim Goeglein was a special assistant to, and a favourite of, George W. Bush and, “My, my, my,” blogs Nancy Nall.

“Tim Goeglein … is a plagiarist.”

Deputy director of the White House Office of Public Liaison with special reference to social and religious conservatives, he was “influential in decisions on a range of questions important to that constituency, including stem cell research, abortion and faith-based initiatives,” says the New York Times.

And yet he blatantly plagiarized 20 of 38 columns he’d written for the Fort Wayne News-Sentinel. And he was caught in the act after he was Googled.

“In his columns for The News-Sentinel, my old newspaper, he personifies a certain sort of apple-cheeked Hoosier drippiness, which undoubtedly masks a core of white-hot ambition,” says Nall.

Goeglein, who worked for Bush since 2001, was a liaison to social and religious conservatives, an important component of the president’s political base, says the NYT.

Not any more.

“This is not acceptable, and we are disappointed in Tim’s actions,” the story has White House spokeswoman Emily Lawrimore saying on Friday just before Goeglein ‘resigned’.

“He is offering no excuses, and he agrees it was wrong.”

Oh. That’s OK, then.

“White House Press Secretary Dana Perino said in a written statement that Bush was ‘disappointed’ about Goeglein’s plagiarism and ’saddened’ for him and his family,” says the Los Angeles Times, adding:

“Perino said that Goeglein “accepted responsibility for the columns published under his name in his local newspaper, and has apologized for not upholding the standards expected by the president.”

“She said Bush, who left at midday to spend the weekend at his ranch near Crawford, Texas, ‘has long appreciated Tim’s service, and he knows him to be a good person who is committed to his country’.”
