SmartHouse hacked, says CEO
p2pnet news | Crime:- Top George W. Bush aide Tim Goeglein isn’t the only one caught stealing someone else’s work for his own purposes.
“An investigation by 4Square Media has revealed that over a period of more than 24 months the content engine used to supply stories to web sites such as SmartHouse, SmartHouse News, ChannelNews and Smart Office has been illegally accessed and in several cases content changed,” says 4Square CEO David Richards.
Investigations revealed, “not only have unauthorized stories been posted over a period of time but bylines and dates of story postings changed,” he says, going on:
“This has resulted in allegations of plagiarism by other journalists and competitors.”
Code has also been hacked, says Richards, saying the unauthorised access was first detected by programmers in India early in February 2008.
In an email to 4Square Media, “the Company handling the building of a new trade site wrote ‘I think there is one more person, other than us, who is working on our site. He or she has made some changes on the website, in html’.”
