World-wide anti-Scientology protest

p2pnet news | Freedom:- The Ides of March are nigh, says Anonymous, the group whose members have been organizing anti-Scientology protests around the world.
This time they’re planning Operation Party Hard for March 15, the birthday of sci-fi writer L. Ron Hubbard, the man who created the madness.
“The cult practice of scientology exploits the influence of celebrities such as John Travolta, Tom Cruise, actresses Kirstie Alley, Mimi Rogers and Anne Archer,” says Anonymous, going on >>>
These persons may be just pop-culture icons to many, but in Germany their faith in the preachings of science-fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard is politically not allowed.
Scientology is deemed not a religion but a suspect movement whose activities verge on the dangerous edges of extremism.

The so called Church of Scientology :
- Retains public relations powerhouse Hill and Knowlton to help shed the church’s fringe-group image.
- Joined such household names as Sony and Pepsi as a main sponsor of Ted Turner’s Goodwill Games.
- Buys massive quantities of its own books from retail stores to propel the titles onto best-seller lists.
- Runs full-page ads in such publications as Newsweek and Business Week that call Scientology a ‘philosophy,’ along with a plethora of TV ads touting the group’s books.
- Recruits wealthy and respectable professionals through a web of consulting groups that typically hide their ties to Scientology.
Scientology devotes vast resources to squelching its critics. Since 1986 Hubbard and his church have been the subject several critically unfriendly books, all released by small yet courageous publishers. In each case, the writers have been badgered and heavily sued. One of Hubbard’s policies was that all perceived enemies are ‘fair game’ and subject to being ‘tricked, sued or lied to or destroyed.’
Scientology has brought hundreds of suits against its perceived enemies and today pays an estimated $20 million annually to more than 100 lawyers.

[Yesterday, I took down two anti-Scientology comment posts under p2pnet reader thumbnails. I did that not because I've anything against their authors or the subject matter, but because they had nothing to do with the story under which they appeared. In future, guys, please just email me (p2pnet @ shaw dot ca). Cheers! And thanks ... Jon]
Stay tuned.

You’d have to be an idiot to follow this garbage, hence why it’s popular in Hollywood.
