Microsoft tries to dodge Vista email fallout

p2pnet news | Products:- Microsoft is already on the sticky end of a class action brought by customers who claim it allowed PC makers stick ‘Windows Vista Capable’ on PCs when it knew perfectly well the computers were anything but.

It’s also been accused of been overly concerned about Intel’s interests.

Now it wants the customer lawsuit suspended while it appeals a judge’s decision to grant the case class-action status, says OSNews, adding:

“If granted, the motion would also postpone any new disclosures of potentially embarrassing company emails.”

Bill and the Boyz are still trying to deal with email revelations that the decision to lower requirements was made over the objection of some Microsoft executives who wondered if Intel’s 915 chipset was capable of properly displaying Vista&’s graphics features.

“We lowered the requirements to help Intel make their quarterly earnings, so they could continue to sell motherboards with 915 graphics embedded,” Bloomberg News quotes John Kalkman who, “handles relations with personal-computer makers,” saying in one message.

  2. Mostly Harmless Says:

Doctored graphic? The graphic for the story says “Windows Vista CAPATABLE”? That would be really funny if it was what the stickers actually said.

Microsoft and Intel have never understand why we call them Wintel?
