UK TV hair ad ‘may offend Christians’

p2pnet news | TV:- Italian - “May my new curls make her feel choked with jealousy”.

Swedish - “May my flirty flicks puncture the heart of every man I see”.

English - “Make him dump her tonight and come home with me.”

Three lines from GHD hair styler TV ads banned by Britain’s Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) because they may offend Christians.

One shot has a scantily dressed woman fingering a rosary.

“The advert juxtaposed the words ‘thy will be done’ alongside erotic images of women accompanied by predatory text,” says the BBC.

Predatory text?

The Archdeacon of Liverpool was among 23 people who complained about the ad, says the story.

Sheesh! Then let those brain-rot infested morons take offense! What is scary is that these people and their imaginary friends get so much attention.

Religion has done NOTHING for humanity and civilization but further it’s barbarism and stall it’s development (evolution!).

When you can be forgiven for anything, the consequences of your actions matters no more. And that is both ludicrous and dangerous!

Oh how I long for common sense.. not only in this, but also in the war on drugs, the war on terrorism, the file-sharing debate and everywhere!

Or at least that the christians follow their own “holy” book, and turn the other cheek when offended. (I wonder how many wars could have been avoided if they did that…)

    Ah well.. I’m done ranting!

  2. dur. . . Says:

Atheism has killed more people with its wars than religion ever could. Evolution? That’s a biological process, not a social endeavor. Or maybe you’re talking about the old will-to-power racism? Cool. So you’re a white supremacist?

But of course here we see that lovely modern liberal virtue of tolerance, don’t we? Oh, but wait. . .it’s tolerance for everybody but Christians.

What if this commercial had Jewish overtones? Muslim? Hmm. . .???

Anyway, you clearly haven’t the first idea about the Christian faith or what the Bible says. How about getting firsthand information instead of parroting some nonsense you read on your atheist fansites?

Get a grip and get a clue, pal.

O RLY? All recent wars have religion involved in one way or another, mainly Islam.

  4. Tammo McIllheneny Says:

    that topic is debatable.
SOme of the biggest wars haven’t been over religion (im thinking of the world wars here)
But for sheer number of wars, religion is FTW.
    The Crusades were pretty nasty.

  5. Mostly Harmless Says:

“Religion has done NOTHING for humanity…”

First, I’m not a big fan of organized religion. It is easy to cite countless horrible events that can be directly attributable to religious actions and beliefs, however, it is also easy to overlook the positive effects religion has on many people’s lives. Those things are mainly on an individual or family basis and are seldom noted in headlines or history. IMHO it is hypocritical to shove the bad parts of religion in people’s faces and not acknowledge the good bits.

There are a LOT of “Christians” you can say the same thing about…

  6. Reader's Write Says:

“Atheism has killed more people with its wars than religion ever could.”

You are an idiot. I’m not going to even bother coming up with anything more than that.

i believe it has… if they were following their religious views (talking of Christians and what the Christians believe the bible teaches) then they wouldn’t have been going off to slaughter innocents for oil, power and wealth

3 main charges usually brought against Christianity:
    :
-crusades - guy in charge uses religion to cover his lust for power and control, thinking hes doing what god wants

-church persecution of witches/unbelievers - guy in charge kills anyone who doesn’t agree with him (if you think it was just witches killed during the dark ages, i ask you to read foxes book of martyrs, in it contains numerous accounts of Christians being killed by those who used religion as a cover for their deeds)

-current bush war- guy in charge uses religion to cover his lust for power and control, thinking hes doing what god wants

looking at history it is evident that christianity has often been used as a scapegoat for heinous crimes against humanity, and yet if those fighting the “holy wars” would just look at the religion they’re using as a scapegoat, they would see that it actually teaches things somewhat different.

“But of course here we see that lovely modern liberal virtue of tolerance, don’t we? Oh, but wait. . .it’s tolerance for everybody but Christians.”
I tolerate christians. I do NOT tolerate chistians not tolerating others. Do YOU tolerate muslims?

“Evolution? That’s a biological process, not a social endeavor. Or maybe you’re talking about the old will-to-power racism? Cool. So you’re a white supremacist?”
How do you know I’m white? And where did this become about racism? I thought we were discussing another brain-disease.

“What if this commercial had Jewish overtones? Muslim? Hmm. . .???”
What if people looked at the commercial and saw a hair-commercial.

“Anyway, you clearly haven’t the first idea about the Christian faith or what the Bible says. How about getting firsthand information instead of parroting some nonsense you read on your atheist fansites?”
I don’t have to know how to drive a truck, to be killed by it. And you can still see it coming towards you.
Break out of your romantic little idea about heaven and hell, and look at the world around you. It’s a world torn asunder by religious conflict. The american president is starting wars all over, believing he is told so by an imaginary beeing, and the Muslims.. blowing themselves up, instead of furthering the human race. That is revolting.

And I have to re-iterate.. How I long for common sense!

Yes, I agree. Religion can help people feel better, and help them feel that they belong. But that is one of the PROBLEMS with religion. This help should come from an uncorrupted source (the sience-oriented medicinal practice of psychology feels appropriate).

I mean; you can fight wildfire by burning the fields around it. Does this mean that the burned fields are good? I think not!

People should be helped to find a place in reality, not in heaven.
