Quote Marion:

"Wouldn’t it be nice if The RIAA lost, got their asses sued by all the people who got sued AND the colleges and ISPS that had to hand over information under threat, and the income from music sales went directly to the musicians instead? (after compensating those who lost money) I’d imagine there are lots of folks who, like me, stopped buying ANY music because of the RIAA’s lawsuits."

Don't you mean the monies went to THEM instead of the artists? They've pissed on everyone involved not just the consumers

The problem here is that it simply means the RIAA gets to fulfil part II of its role in life: shielding the members from legal action. The RIAA will get what it richly deserves, and I guess that will stop it, but not even undo the damage it has caused already (and I include in that the proposed changes to copyright law which would effectively do away with the fair use doctrine).

However, I'm unconvinced it will affect those in whose name it has been doing it (the record companies), so all they need to do is set up a new club.. It's taken IMHO *FAR* too long to have these idiots stopped, what can we do to educate judges?

That's what I'm talking about! Salute Judge Brown for being one of the first to make rulings such as this. I hope the RIAA get in more than just big trouble. I hope they turn over and die.
