Apple Safari 3.1 online

p2pnet news | Products:- “Experience the web, Apple style, with Safari: the fastest, easiest-to-use web browser in the world,” says Apple.

“With its simple, elegant interface, Safari gets out of your way and lets you enjoy the web - up to 1.9 times faster than Internet Explorer.”

Up to 1.9 times faster, eh? Let’s see, in practical terms that means ……

Oh never mind.

Meanwhile, Firefox 3 beta is out there and getting rave reviews.

It, “remains the best browser on the whole, with great features, impressive improvements all-round, a revised bookmarking system and thousands of add-ons to make it easy to perfectly customise,” says CNET News, adding:

“The improvements in performance are stellar, it’s got some well-integrated features than everyone will use (resumable download manager, tag-ready bookmarking) and it offers, overall, a better, richer Web experience. We’re behind Firefox and we hope that when the final release is out it’ll be just that little bit better to boot.”

  1. Reader's Write Says:

my personal tests do not show any significant speed difference between Safari or IE.
Safari renders graphics faster but IE renders text faster.
But both browsers are solid and reliable, Safari would be a good browsers for windows users wanting to use a second browser for surfing and a primary one for stuff like online banking and email.
Firefox 3 is well… just as junky and slow as firefox 2.
Users who use Firefox seem to be into customizing. I personally like some of the extensions but in reality they serve me no purpose other than bling bling.

I’ll be sticking to my IE Safari combo for now.
Hopefully Opera 10 will be better and more website friendly when it is released

  2. Just my two cents Says:

I was appalled the other day to find that my iTunes application was wanting me to install Safari on my computer. It’s one thing to nag you about program updates, but it’s another to try and force something like Safari on you, especially if you haven’t even shown an interest.

It’s bad enough that iTunes is the only decent application that allows me to copy videos with non-English titles to my iPOD (I know, I shouldn’t stoop that low ;) ), but personally I feel that apple applications are as bad and dangerous as Real networks applications.

On the same note, I wish all of those freeware/shareware that try to force Firefox on you is a much of a malware as spyware/virus riddled software.

Basic point here is, if the software is good, and we want it, we will read an article talking about how good it is, and will download it ourselves. Stop don’t try to force it on us!

    Just my two cents

  3. B_Easy24 Says:

Firefox is the shit I use it more than IE safari is just crap, half the things that you can do with FF you can’t do with IE or Safari. Join the FF revolution.

  4. Havvy Says:

B_Easy24: It’s not a revolution… It’s too big and has too much power to be.

FF3 isn’t /as/ clunky and is less clunky then FF2.

You can customize without bling bling. Many an extension there are that increase functionality without bling bling. Try searching.

  5. f4te Says:

    Opera, anyone?

  6. Clem Says:

It has just been my experience that you don’t have the infection problems to you PC when you use FF as opposed to IE. Just thought my 2 cents in here wouldn’t hurt. I don’t know about safari or opera. I tend to stick to what works well and not try to fix it if it isn’t broken.
