Wells Fargo online safes

p2pnet news | Security:- Wells Fargo is to offer online safe deposit boxes.

Called Wells Fargo vSafes, they’ll, “provide retail banking customers with a virtual storage space for digital copies of such things as tax returns, insurance policies, wills, passports, and birth and marriage certificates,” says the San Francisco Chronicle, going on:

“The initiative focuses on consumers who store their paper documents in folders or boxes that are vulnerable to disasters or theft. It’s also designed for people who want a virtual repository that can be accessed while on the road.”

“This is a natural outgrowth of what online does best,” the story has the company’s Stephanie Smith saying. “It’s secure, accessible from anywhere, easy to organize and cheap to provide tremendous amounts of storage.”

Wells Fargo is, “uniquely positioned to provide customers with some peace of mind in storing important documents online, Smith states.

VSafes will be rented for $5 a month for 1 gigabyte, $10 a month for 3 gigabytes and $15 for 6 gigabytes of storage, says the the San Francisco Chronicle, adding:

“Customers will be able to access their vSafe through their online banking account. Smith said the service follows the same layered encryption used to protect online banking transactions. Customers also can buy a $25 security keychain token that generates an additional pass code that changes every 60 seconds.”

No doubt the criminal hacking fraternity will be intrigued by the news.
