Slysoft AnyDVD (HD) 6.4.0.0 and Blu-ray
p2pnet news | Cool Stuff:- If you use Slysoft to back up all those corporate CDs and DVDs you paid through the nose for, you’ll have noticed the latest update was just a little more interesting than usual.

We would like to inform you, that a new version of AnyDVD has been released. Here the list of fixes and improvements:
6.4.0.0 2008 03 19
- New (Blu-ray): Removes the BD+ protection from Blu-ray discs! (for increased compatibility with titles released by Twentieth Century Fox
)
- New (Blu-ray): Added option to enable / disable BD+ removal
- New (DVD): AnyDVD ripper no longer uses the Windows filesystem, it has now its own UDF parser / reader.
Discs which cannot be read by Windows can now be copied with the AnyDVD ripper.
- Fix (Blu-ray): Black display with some BD discs, e.g., “Layer Cake”, second release, “The Fugitive”, “Wild Things” (all Region B)
- Fix (DVD): Small bugfix in “repairing defective disc structure” function of AnyDVD ripper
- Fix (DVD): Problems with some Arccos protected titles, e.g. “The Grudge”, R1, US
- Some minor fixes and improvements
- Updated languages

I do not even have this program installed anymore – because I haven’t used commercial DVDs for more than a year. And I haven’t bought a single one, ever.

This was to be the new holy grail of anticopy protection. They were happily predicting that it would not be broken within 10 years. So much for that idea. As it has in the past, this just demonstrates the time, money, and productivity put into anticopy is both futile and wasted effort.
As it is, there is a hope of tapering off the downloading of movies and other material for all these corporations. The key is not in locking down data, which only punishes those who would buy the items. It is to make it better than what they can get online through download with better quality, service, ease of use, and at a reasonable price. So far they are only fueling downloading as if you pirate, you don’t have to put up with any of this crap. Remember you only put up with it if you pay money for the item. What is wrong with this picture when piracy provides a better service?

HIGHLY recommended program! Go buy it and support their awesome work!! Also go to the doom9.net website to learn more than you wanted to know about DVD copy protection and how to break/copy it. Remember, in the USA we have the Copyright Act which is a law that gives the individual consumer the express right to “make an archival backup copy” of legally-purchased media. This means we are allowed by law to copy our purchased CD’s and DVD’s of music & movies & software for backup purposes. When the companies attempt to copy-protect the media, they are improperly removing our right to make a backup copy. That is why everyone needs to arm themselves with this knowledge, so you can protect your legal rights!

Yes, but the DMCA makes circumventing copy protection a crime. It also criminalizes the tools used to circumvent the protection. So while you’re legally entitled to make backup copies, the tools and act of doing so are now illegal if the mdeia in question has any sort of protection on it.

How can it be illegal to circumvent something illegal? When the movie & music thugs interfere with file sharing, that is their claim. -That it’s not illegal to prevent something illegal. Thus if they want to build a road through my house I shouldn’t be legally required to move out so it can be demolished. The cartels however want to demolish it with me still inside.

Everyone in the world should stop buying any media DVD, CD’s etc for one year, see how they like it, $ lost!
