Jailed Facebook man Mourtada freed

p2pnet news | Freedom:- Fouad Mourtada, a 26-year old IT engineer jailed for posting a fake Facebook profile of the king of Moroccan’s younger brother, has been freed.
He was arrested in February, sentenced to three years in prison and fined of $1,350 for creating a fake Facebook profile of prince Moulay Rachid, says Global Voices.
Mourtada said it was all just a bit of fun, says the BBC, going on Mortada’s brother Ilyas told the BBC Fouad was in good health.
“Fouad, a reserved and timid type of person, had created friendships on Internet and was accustomed to participating in forums and sites of exchanges,” says helpfouad.com.
“His objective always was to communicate and to make new friends.”
The king granted the pardon, “just before the anniversary of the birth of the prophet Mohammed, a public holiday in Morocco, and a date on which pardons are often announced,” say sthe BBC, adding:
“But the BBC’s James Copnall in Rabat says the case shows that the royal family remains a taboo subject in Morocco.”
