Britney Spears’ TV triumph

p2pnet news | TV:- Britney Spears pulls them in. Always. No matter what.

She had a ’small part’ in CBS’ How I Met Your Mother comedy —- and her mere presence immediately added millions of viewers.

Her, “carefully pared-down role – she played a shy receptionist in big eyeglasses who develops an unrequited crush on Ted (Josh Radnor) – was not enough to recharge her career or whitewash her reputation, though she performed satisfactorily,” says the New York Times, going on:

“One line did test to see if it is too soon for her to joke about her unsavory image: her character asked the show’s Lothario, Barney (Neil Patrick Harris), if it would be O.K. to have sex before they go shopping. (It is too soon.)”

But, “the very fact that she could recite her lines was a relief: the most lasting television image of Ms. Spears in recent months showed her tied down to a stretcher.”

An estimated 10.62 million viewers tuned in to see “celebrity train wreck” Spears, the New York Daily News has Nielsen Media Research saying.

That was up more than 1 million viewers from the week before, and some 2.4 million from what the sitcom averaged before the season was upended by a writers strike, says the story, adding:

“Monday’s highly hyped telecast also generated the largest audience between the ages of 18 and 49 in the show’s three-year history” and, “the estimated audience is expected to grow once final DVR figures are worked in over the coming weeks.”

Spears’ appearance was her first since her disasterous performance on the MTV Video Music Awards.

  2. Rekrul Says:

    Sure, THAT one posts!

  3. Rekrul Says:

As soon as I try to post a longer comment, it disappears into limbo. When I try to re-post it, I’m told that I’m posting a ducplicate comment. What the hell?

  7. Eric Says:

Billie Piper did it better (the TV thing, not the posting thing).

“rekrul posts 4 comments 1 after the other then ‘why can’t I post?’”

Those were posted in frustration after my real comment refused to appear. Short messages worked, but my real comment wouldn’t post. I tried at least a dozen times but it wouldn’t show up on the page.

  9. Jon Says:

^^ I have no idea what that is/was. We fixed the last problem, which affected me also, but I’ve never had any difficulty posting anything of any length.

    I’ll stay tuned, though.

    Cheers!

My comment wasn’t very long, maybe 8-9 lines or so. It wouldn’t post, but the short message you see above worked fine. I used them to test if anything would post. Re-tried my reall comment after them and it still wouldn’t post. Let’s see if this does…

  11. Reader's Write Says:

Yer Billie Piper has done a better job.

Doctor Who (2 series worth and coming back next series)
Secret Diary Of A Call Call Girl (Doing second series new)

Britney Spear. A few lines, LOL.

  12. Cywolve Says:

Did everyone watch the same thing? I thought she over acted, and some of the people who have shown up in the show with no names have done a better job than her. Im a fan of this show, and thought her being on it was the worst idea ever. I feel bad for her, but man… she was bad in the show.

  13. Ardor Says:

    What has gotten into Britney?

She used to be so pretty and the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen in my life.
but now, she’s not that pretty, some of it might be from cigarettes and alcohols
