GtkPod doesn’t have this problem. I use it on linux, and it can restore your music library without any problems. I believe winamp has the same functionality on windoze.

I am sorry, but this has been a problem with iTunes, from it’s inception.

That is why there are so many “freeware” that allow you to restore the files from you iPOD.

He should have done a simple search for iPOD tools, before paying such a high price.

It’s not a design fault. It’s deliberate.

They don’t want any possibility of friends sharing tunes
with each other, using a Nano as a ‘distribution device’.
This is similar to the crippling of the Zune’s wireless transfer
feature. They don’t want you to do it, they do their best to insure
you can’t.
