TDC PLAY will change your life!

p2pnet news DRM:- | Music:- Danish telecom company TDC says it’s offering customers a life-altering experience!
Mobile and broadband markets are saturated and need “new thinking,” says Jens Alder (right), the man in charge.
So, a company statement goes on, “we are investing in making music available to our customers, and we believe that we will benefit from it financially and get more satisfied customers”.
Not only but also, “When our customers wake up tomorrow, we will have changed their everyday lives,” says the company.”
WOWEE !!!!
But wait —- it’s April 1 so this is a joke, right?
Nope. TDC is serious.
Customers will have their lives changed through PLAY.
With it, “they are suddenly able to download all the music they wish as a part of their subscription from TDC or YouSee, legally and without extra charges,” says Alder.
That’s because the company says it’s agreed terms of payment with at least three members of the Big 4 organised music gang, EMI, Sony BMG, Warner, as well as various Danish labels.
Then DRM (Digital Restrictions Management) consumer control rears its ugly head.
“TDC will offer Play through its mobile unit … and its YouSee broadband business,” says paidContent, continuing:
“Except for prepay mobile and 2Mbps broadband customers, subscribers can download as many tunes as they like from a repertoire of over a million – but DRM attached to tracks means they can’t be transferred to other devices and will expire in 30 days if customers cancel their subscription. Unlocked tracks can be bought for eight krona (about $1.66, or £0.84), however. It’s 48Kbps AAC/AAC+ for mobile, 192Kbps WMV for desktop.”
New thinking? Life-changing?
Same old same old.

It would be fine if it worked ‘out of the box’, but typically for TDC, there are ‘technical problems’ and it simply doesn’t work. As well as that, jspinclude and Windows Media Player addins flash up for installation on every track you want to listen to.
