p2pnet comment post difficulties

p2pnet news view | P2P:- Hi all:
I’m only too aware people are having a lot of trouble with comment posts longer than just a few sentences.
Unfortunately, I don’t have a programmer available who can deal with these kinds of difficulties on a routine basis. This is one of the reasons I want to introduce carefully selected advertisements to p2pnet. The income will allow me to have someone available to deal with these kinds of problems, which crop up every now and then. (I also hope to be able to hire a writer to help me out
but I promise you —- a programmer will come before a writer.)
Meanwhile, I suggested people should send me longer comment posts and I’d try to get them online. But that isn’t working either. I’m having the same problem as everyone else.
This will be fixed but for now, the best I can do is suggest one of three things:
- really boil down your comments;
- send them to me here —- p2pnet @ shaw dot ca —- and I’ll try and edit them down into a usable length; or,
- send them to me anyway and maybe I can post them as articles relating to the subject at hand.
I’m really sorry I haven’t yet been able to get to the bottom of this, but that’s how it goes with one-man sites running on a shoe-string.
Cheers! And all the best …
Jon

I don’t know what would be better, but it seems like wordpress has been problematical. Maybe you would be better off using another program?

Apparently, Akismet (the anti-spam app) is flagging some comments as spam. We’re trying to sort this.
Cheers!

yes Jon, that akismet maybe seems to be the problem as soon as there is for example an URL in a comment
I tried for example my post where I quoted the google TOS in your story about need to be 18 to use google
With a link to the tos at the end it did not get thru (but no error mesage after hitting submit=.
imediatly copy and pasting the same text but without the TOS link went live without delay

^^ Akismet automatically puts any post with two or more URLs on hold because I told it to
That’s because most spams include two or more URLs.
Meanwhile, Bob, who does his best to keep deal with these things on top of his already staggering workload, is trying to figure out the solution.
So please bear with us
You know I don’t like this any more than anyone else.
Cheers!

We’ve switched Akismet off while Bob tries to sus things out, which means I’m deleting comment spam by hand. But I’m not here 24/7 so some will get through until I get a chance to deal with it.
Cheers!

hey jon, i’m not sure exactly how wordpress works, but is there some kind of safe list you can create? so that people who log into wordpress and who you’ve marked as “safe” posters will have no trouble posting any number of posts?
April 5th, 2008 at 4:36 pm
Anyone, except trolls, is a ’safe’ poster.
Akismet is back on and I’ve now switched Bad Behavior off to see if that was it. I just successfully posted an item which was refused before, so fingers crossed ……..
Cheers!
