Bell applies this throttling only during peak hours, about 4pm to 2am. I know what's gonna happen. uTorrent already has it built in. Scheduled downloading. Then, once Ma Bell catches on, say, in the 22nd century lol, what's to stop her from locking off P2P completely? The whole POINT of the drive from dialup to highspeed was the uber download speeds. I'm not gonna pay fifty bucks a month for a frickin 30kB/s download speed! That's slower than the top speed of thier $10/month oldpeople (yeah well its what they usually get :p ) plan! Screw that, fourty bucks off! Even if I pay thirty bucks because i spent ALL my time downloading, and got all of 30 gigs, I'd STILL be on top!

There is a precedented law stating that it is unlawful to tap a person's phone line without their knowledge...On one of the sites I've visited while researching this fiasco, they actually used the wiretap example to show what Bell is doing here. They're 'tapping' our data to find out what's in it, then forcing CRC errors into the datastream (or however they do it) so that the data has to be discarded. If they had informed us of this practice, maybe, just maybe, they'd have a leg to stand on. Instead, they have invaded the privacy of perhaps a million Canadians, and clearly defaced one of the best reasons of being a Canadian, the right to privacy, and the right to free speech if you want to go that far. Wars were fought to make sure that nobody could deny us of our rights. Suddenly I have a mental picture of a Rememberance Day float of a certain beaver taking a leak on the veterans. That's the kind of disrespect I feel they are giving us with this crap. I say we make a stand. Boycott Bell. Sure, in this day and age, it will be hard, like living without electricity. But we've done it before. There's other providers. If everyone canceled their cells, home phones, internet, and satellite all at the same time, the poor idiot that thought this scheme up will probably be fired for causing a huge multi-billion dollar company to go bankrupt...What better satisfaction than that? WE are the people that pay these guys countless thousands of dollars a month. WE should be able to use what we paid for! If not, WE have to do something about it! Otherwise, that beaver is pissin on us all!

* repost attempt *

I can't see how the C.R.T.C. couldn't recognise C.A.I.P.'s requests as being the only honest and right thing to do here. Hopefully more than a handful of people in a position of influence can grasp the true significance of that which is really being challenged.
