Tom Cruise ‘propaganda’ flick held back

p2pnet news | Movies:- “This film will have the same propaganda advantages of Scientology, as the 1936 Olympics had the Nazis.” – Thomas Gandow, spokesman for the German Protestant church
Gandow was talking about Valkyrie, the United Artists / MGM movie starring Tom Cruise, and slated for release on October 3.
However, the flick won’t be out until February 13 next year, says Variety.
Cruise, one of the Cult of Scientology’s principal spokesman, seriously embarrassed himself and the organisation when a promo video of Himself raving about the virtues of Scientology turned up online.
In Valkyrie, “Cruise will play Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg, leader of the 1944 plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler using a bomb hidden in a briefcase, scheduled for release next year,” said a p2pnet post, going on >>>
Von Stauffenberg must be turning over in his grave.
His son, Berthold, “told the Sueddeutsche Zeitung newspaper earlier this week that he objected to Cruise taking the role because of his involvement with Scientology,” says the BBC.
“He should keep his hands off my father,” it has von Stauffenberg vehemently declaring.
Nor is he alone in his distaste of the cult.
Germany’s interior ministers ordered the country’s domestic intelligence agency to prepare a dossier on the organization’s activities with a view to banning it on the grounds it’s unconstitutional, and forbade US and MGM from filming Valkyrie on its military bases.
But that won’t stop Hollywood or Cruise, who no doubt hand-picked himself for the role.
He and Cruise/Wagner Productions partner Paula Wagner, “revived the UA label in 2006,” says Variety.
What’s a cast iron, carved in rock, solid-gold certainty, however, is that whenever it does appear, a clear it’ll generate non-stop international headlines.
Anonymous, with an anti-cult demo lined up for April 12, and others will make sure of that.
And Valkyrie itself is guaranteed to encourage spoofs and lampoons, as well as anti-Scientology productions.

Tom Cruise is Box Office Poison.
Hollywood knows it, the world knows it, the only ones who don’t know are the Scientologists because they believe what they are TOLD to believe and warned not to look anywhere else for answers.

Why can’t I post real comments?
April 8th, 2008 at 1:53 pm
All of these little ones get through, but when I try to post a real comment, it tells me I’ve already said that, says I’m posting too quickly, or it just plain ignores the post. WTF?

Hi all:
I don’t know what to say. I’m aware of it and trying different things. This bugs me as much as everyone else but p2pnet is a shoe-string, one-man site and getting anything beyond simple, easily mended, problems fixed takes time.
Sorry.
Cheers!

Have you filed a bug report with the WordPress authors/team? A couple other sites that I comment on also seem to use WordPress (I’ve seen the “You’re posting too quickly” and “Duplicate comment” errors) even though the comments look completely different than here. I can’t say that I’ve ever had them just ignore a message like this site does.

^^ I get up at 3:00 in the morning, work pretty well non-stop until 1 or 2 am on zero budget and I don’t have the personal technical knowledge or outside tech resources to deal with this kind of thing.
I’m doing what I can behind the scenes, so to speak, but no one seems to have any answers. I’m aware of the problem and as I said in the comment above you, I’m doing what I can.
Harping on it doesn’t help.
Cheers!

Mr. Cruise (and company) simply went to work and made a film. It is about a little known aspect of the German people’s thinking and activity during WW II. It was the reaction of an established Church spokesperson in Germany, the reaction of a small handful of German government officials and the reaction of a single descendant of the film’s hero, that changed public focus. What is this infatuation the press has with Scientology? A tiny slice of population controls the media? WHAT?

Epic win for Anons!
April 12 is the next protest.

“It is about a little known aspect of the German people’s thinking and activity during WW II. ”
Little known? It is only one of the most famous events of WWII!
“the reaction of a single descendant of the film’s hero”
It’s his son you twit.

I’m sorry if you thought I was harping. I was suggesting that rather than devote time yourself trying to figure out why it isn’t working like it’s supposed to, that maybe you could make the people who wrote it try and figure out what the problem is.
That’s why I emailed you the one short message it wouldn’t accept recently. I thought maybe if you had a short message that wouldn’t go through, the WordPress authors might be able to pinpoint the problem.
I understand that you’re overworked and don’t have the technical resources to easily fix a problem like this. I’m sorry if I’m making things worse, but honestly, I was just trying to help.

Addition to my previous comment: Re-reading my comment from the 9th, I see where it sounded like I was berating this site by saying that other sites have never ignored my comments. I honestly didn’t mean it to sound that way. I was trying to illustrate that WordPress seems to behave differently. On some sites I’ve never gotten the message about posting too quickly and only know it uses WordPress when I’ve mistakenly submitted the same comment twice. On others, I get the message about posting too quickly almost every time I enter something.
Again, no hostility over this problem was intended.

It’s OK, m8. No worries. I was just being tetchy
