MySpace global TV deal

p2pnet news | TV:- MySpace has signed a deal to put its shows such as Quarterlife, Roommates and Special Delivery on TV outside the US.
“The deal was signed with the Shine Group which is run by Elizabeth Murdoch – daughter of Rupert Murdoch who owns MySpace parent News International,” says the BBC.
It covers DVDs and merchandise but MySpace retains all net rights to its programmes.
MySpace will retain all distribution rights inside the US, retaining international web and mobile distribution rights, says SMP, adding:
“In November 2007, NBC Universal picked up MySpace’s Quarterlife. Whilst it was the first internet series to be picked up by a traditional TV network, it’s transfer to television was not the instant success it was billed to be.
“Last week, MySpace announced plans to set up a music download service to rival iTunes, and promptly signed three of the ‘big four’ record labels, Sony BMG, Warner Music and Universal. EMI has not yet signed in on the deal.”
