Your eyeball as a movie screen?

p2pnet news | Cool Stuff:- Is this cool? Or is it potentially dangerous?
Brother Japan has developed an eyeglass-shaped retinal scanning display on an eyeglass frame weighing a scant 25g.
“The retinal scanning display irradiates low-intensity light on the retina and scans it with the light at a high speed,” says Newlaunches, going on:
“The user perceives the afterimage of the light scanned on the retina as an image.”
In other words, it’s like a tiny projector that uses the retina as the ’screen,’ if we understand this correctly. So it’s shooting the movie, or whatever, right onto your eyeball.
Any chance of sudden light flares, or such?
The story doesn’t say.
Meanwhile, “Brother intends to commercialize the retinal scanning display in fiscal 2010 at the earliest,” it adds.

Sounds like a foolproof way to get eye cancer.

Yeah, right, as if your eyes weren’t being irradiated with light of various intensities and wavelengths for 15+ hours per day…

sorry
don’t think I want something being irradiated into my eye ball.
Especially if its a Sony Blue-ray movie with subliminal DRM

People, irradiate means to expose to radiation. Your computer screen is irradiating youright now. Remember, radiation also means electromagnetic radiation, which includes regular light. Generally, light means visible light, which is perfectly harmless, unless you shine a billion watt light bulb at your face, as you will get blinded. The reason you shouldn’t look at the sun is not because it is bright, but because of hard radiation.

^^ and because the infra-red radiation (which is not hard) will thermally damage the retinas.
