Dr Phil interferes in teen video beating case

p2pnet news | Crime:- Self-inflating TV psychologist Dr Phil McGraw shamelessly tried to horn in on the Florida case where six teenaged girls viciously attacked another for a ’shock’ video while two boys acted as look-outs.
He was apparently bent on getting one of the girls on his show, so he posted bail for her, a spokeswoman for the show’s host admitted, says the Associated Press, going on >>>
Staff members of the talk show helped … one of eight teens facing charges in the case … post bond this weekend, ‘Dr. Phil’ McGraw’s spokeswoman Terri Corigliano said in an e-mail.
“We have helped guests and potential guests in the past when they need financial assistance to come on the show – assisting with clothing allowance, lost wages, accommodations, travel and necessities,” Corigliano wrote.
“In this case, certain staff members went beyond our guidelines (re the bail being paid).”
Oh.
Anyway, “we have decided not to go forward with the story as our guidelines have been compromised,” says the story.
McGraw similarly insinuated himself into the Britney Spears saga when he made unrequested visits to Spears in hospital when he was trying to organise a TV special around her.
Following widespread, and equally negative, publicity, he was forced to cancel that show as well.
‘P.A. mouthed off publicly …’
The big question in the teenage beating case is, “who hatched the plan to pay the bail for the woman accused of kidnapping and videotaping the brutal beating?” – asks TMZ, going on >>>
The show issued a statement saying certain staff members “went beyond their guidelines,” but the buzz on the Paramount lot is that it would be impossible for the producer to pay the $3,300 for the bail and put up $33,000 in collateral without the full knowledge and approval of higher-ups on the show.
The plan could have been pulled off, but after the P.A. mouthed off publicly, Phil’s battleship was sunk somewhere off the Florida coast.
Bail on the kidnapping charges was set at $30,000 for each defendant, double the normal $15,000.
Six received $1,000 bail on battery charges, and two, $5,000, and three of defendants received $2,000 bail on witness tampering charges, says the story.
“I’m going to carry this as far as I can to see about getting this stuff off the internet and stop our children from endangering other people’s children just to create a shock video,” the victim’s father told local news channel WESH 2 News, says eSchoolNews.
