E Street’s Danny Federici dies

p2pnet news | Music:- “Sad Day on E Street: Danny Federici to Leave Bruce Springsteen Tour for Health Reasons.”
Back in December, 2007, that was the headline to a Rolling Stones story on Danny Federici, keyboard player for Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band.
Federici was being treated for cancer, and after a three-year battle with melanoma, he’s dead at the age of 58.
“During in-concert band intros, Springsteen often referred to him as ‘Phantom,’ sometimes said to be because of an incident in Asbury Park in the 1960s where Federici evaded a police crackdown that resulted in the arrest of numerous others,” says the Wikipedia.
When Federici took a leave of absence, Springsteen released a statement saying “Danny is one of the pillars of our sound and has played beside me as a great friend for more than 40 years,” says the Star-Ledger.
Star-Ledger – E Street Band member Danny Federici is dead at 58, April 17, 2008
