p2pnet news | Crime:- Using the Net to publish bomb recipes or call for acts of terrorism will count as a criminal offence, European Union justice ministers have decided.
“The 27 member states agreed on Friday, April 18, to introduce as new offences ‘public provocation to commit a terrorist offence, recruitment, and training for terrorism’ which would be punishable ‘also when committed through the Internet’,” says Deutsche Welle.
People found guilty of “disseminating terrorist propaganda and bomb-making expertise through the Internet can therefore be prosecuted and sentenced to prison,” the justice ministers said in a joint statement, says the story, going on:
“The commission’s proposal would also allow EU law-enforcement agencies to demand cooperation from Internet providers in order to identify the people making such calls and to ensure that the offending material is taken off-line.”
EU counter-terrorism coordinator Gilles de Kerchove said some 5,000 Internet sites “contribute to radicalizing young people in Europe,” it adds.

Now, this is clearly a case of Freedom of Speech.
Not allowing people the freedom to publish bomb making recipes is a complete infringement of the right to Freedom of Speech.
Making a bomb is not necessarily a crime. It’s all in why, and how it’s used. The real criminals here are those that intend to hurt the civilian population with the intent on scaring them into taking their side in an argument.
The idea that they can erase all the bomb recipes on the internet seems to me, to be unethical, and quite possibly impossible.
Making it a crime to incite violence by assembling people together under a common banner of violence, sounds rational to me, and I’d support that to a degree.
But infringing on the right to publish knowledge is completely asinine.
Unless that bomb making knowledge is classified material (cough, Rosenburg,cough), which would be treason.
