p2pnet - rss feed: The Pirate Bay ‘ex-cop’ not so ‘ex’
p2pnet news | P2P:- The RIAA and MPAA have been hiring ex-cops for years, p2pnet pointed out on Monday, in reference to the burgeoning scandal centring on whether or not ex-cop Jim Keyzer’s employment with Warner Bros was in any way in proper as it and of the other three members of the Big 4 organised music cartel tried to sue The Pirate Bay.
However, it turns out Keyzer may not be so ‘ex’.
Warner, EMI, Vivendi Universal and Sony BMG say TPB owes them $2.5 million and Keyzer started work for Warner, “several month after” a preliminary investigation into the allegation was completed.
But now it seems he was with Warner as part of a kind of lend-lease program.
Keyzer wasn’t, “quitting his police job,” says TorrentFreak, going on, “he was only hired by Warner Bros for six months”.
So that’s OK, then.
But, “The same police officer is scheduled to appear as a witness in the forthcoming Pirate Bay trial.”
A major conflict of interests, surely?
“If the police officer is found to have entered into discussions with Warner Brothers before the end of the investigation, which took a year and a half to complete, it is possible that the prosecution will have to scrap its findings and start again,” said lawyer and Swedish MP Peter Althin, representing TPB’s Peter Sunde, one of four charged charged with being an accessory to breaking copyright law.
But, No Problemo, says prosecutor, Håkan Roswall. After all, a couple of years ago, another cop, “was recruited during the investigation as well, so this is nothing unusual,” TorrentFreak has him saying.
“He [the other cop] testified at the trial and the court didn’t take that into consideration,” Roswall said.
Asked why the Big 4 are so interested in hiring the police investigators, “Because they are exceptionally skilled people,” he replied.
“It could be seen as a positive thing that the policeman has worked for Warner. That will broaden his competence in filesharing cases.”

For the parasites at the entertainment industry! Talk about corruption! This lowlife Jim Keyzer belong in jail as well as those who hired him for the job! helloooo!
These guys are fool because when justice is not served thing can get nasty pretty fast.

Talk about a tainted investigation. This whole thing has been nothing but a three ring circus.
The cop is probably thinking that he’ll have another chance at a double pay income if he will slant his testimony as payback down the road. Time after time, we see that the attempts at taking the moral highroad is nothing but a sham put on for a good show. When the truth comes out, the moral highroad is known of but never taken.
