It is every human’s inalienable (in theory, at least) right to do with his own life as he or her sees fit. This includes terminating it.

Pray tell whom is that a problem for? Society? The government? Bollocks. They’re concerned with loosing taxpayers, naught else. And the capitalists are concerned with the raising price of labour as offer dwindles. None of which concern deserves to be taken seriously.

Freedom in life, freedom in death! Merde to the gods!

Death by sword isn’t as popular as the Euro/American/Canadian press would lead you to believe. This was an honorable way to give penance or prove one’s remorse, but was ONLY allowed by the samurai class, which was only a small portion of the entire population.

This is a real problem, here in Japan, with fatal results.

Suicide has been a problem within the Japanese society for many years. In the past, major train lines would be stopped during the morning or evening rush, because someone decide to jump in front of the train. Just last year, a woman in her twenties was killed by a “jumper”, on her way home from work.

I won’t get into the mindset of why many Japanese people submit to suicide, but there is basically 2 major reasons behind the suicides-

1 is a concept that by their death, they will stop existing, and thus stop being a burden on others.

2 is the opposite extreme, where the person feels that this is the only way for people to notice them and the troubles that they are facing (this often is related to bullying).

Recently (within the last 10 years), there has been a growing trend of internet related suicides, where people are looking for other people to commit suicide with, people in a chat room who talk people into committing suicide, and then bulking out in the last minute, only to enter a different chat room and talk others in doing the same thing.

This, coupled with an interest in dieing with the least amount of pain, and as beautiful (this is especially true with girls and women), and most important- a way to die where you can’t be saved and revived in a maimed state, has spawned many internet sites, who offer a “Clean way to die”.

The trend that has been fueled through the net has been “pills”->”Carbon Monoxide” and now by mixing various detergents”.

The flip side to this new wave of detergent suicides, is that people who have gone in to save the person who has committed suicide, often ends up dieing too. There was a case where a suicide in an apartment complex killed 3(one of which was the mother of the child), and over 12 people were hospitalized from the gas.

These sites often can be found through searching the net with terms like “Quick way to die” “Easy way to die”. The Japanese police are stuck with the task of shutting down illegal sites like this (this is considered “helping” suicide in Japan) , and at the same time not infringe of the right of free speech.

Coupled with this, is the difficulty of finding the true owner of a blog or web site, brings about the central theme of this story.
