Problems With New Grand Theft IV Game – EON
After the first day of release there are reports coming in that the new Grand Theft Auto IV video game appears to have some problems. Users are reporting that the game is freezing up during the introduction, and other scenes, and problems are being reported on both the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 game stations. Gamers are complaining that they are not able to get to the online features of the game, or that after purchasing the game and returning home that they are not able to get past the introduction screens. This is potentially a huge problem for Rockstar Video Games, the manufacturer of the game. The video game has been alive with anticipation buzz for nearly a year, and this could radically affect the sales for the new game release.

Breaking with standards widely followed by the mainstream news media, the celebrity Web site TMZ posted a story Wednesday about a 14-year-old who’s a movie star’s son and an alleged sex crime victim, and it ran the boy’s picture. The story said the boy was in a relationship with a 22-year-old woman, whose ex-boyfriend tipped off police that she was having sex with a minor. Police have opened an investigation, the story said.

Italians were surprised, and in some cases outraged, on Wednesday to discover their income levels were available for public viewing on an Internet site. As part of a crack-down on tax evasion, the outgoing centre-left government made public every citizen’s declared taxable income on the state’s tax website, a decision attacked by consumer groups and some politicians. Later on Wednesday the Italian Treasury suspended the website after it received a formal complaint from Italy’s privacy watchdog.

Microsoft this week indicated a willingness to raise its bid to as much as $33 per Yahoo share, attempting to avoid the hostile takeover battle Mr. Ballmer had threatened, according to people with knowledge of the situation. Mr. Ballmer and Microsoft advisers lobbied Yahoo shareholders to bring pressure on its board to do a deal. Yet Mr. Ballmer in recent days has also appeared ready to walk away from Microsoft’s offer altogether, say people familiar with the matter, as Yahoo and some of its shareholders seek significantly more money.

A federal magistrate judge on Thursday chastised the Bush administration for failing to fully answer questions related to a long-running dispute over missing White House emails. The White House is facing lawsuits from two public interest groups, Citizens for Responsibilty and Ethics in Washington and the National Security Archive at George Washington University, demanding that the White House restore the missing e-mails and put in place systems to prevent further e-mail losses. Administration officials were ordered to provide detailed information about the burdens involved in taking immediate actions to preserve copies of hard drive, tapes, and other media that may contain copies of the missing e-mails.
