Microsoft may go hostile on Yahoo

p2pnet news | Advertising:- There’s only one thing people want to know, right now, and that’s What will Microsoft’s main man Steve Ballmer do in his efforts to buy Yahoo?
Really?
“The big result everyone is waiting for concerns Microsoft and Yahoo,” says BBC’s Darren Waters .
Because, today is the day Microsoft will a) up the ante for Yahoo, b) launch a full frontal ‘hostile’ attack or c), drop its attempts to buy the company altogether.
At least, that’s how various mainstream media outlets sum the situation up.
“Chief Executive Officer Steve Ballmer may be running out of time to clinch his proposed purchase of Yahoo! Inc. as the Internet company forges tighter ties with Google Inc,” says Bloomberg News, continuing:
“After three months of pressing Yahoo to give up looking at alternatives and agree to a deal with Microsoft, Ballmer faces a potential setback. An accord with Google may spur Yahoo’s sales and give it a better chance of staying independent, pressuring Microsoft to raise its $44.6 billion bid.”
A hostile bid, “would see Microsoft appeal directly to Yahoo’s shareholders, probably at a higher level than its original bid,” says the Guardian. “Yesterday, Ballmer told staff that he would not pay ‘a dime’ more than he thinks Yahoo is worth.
“A merger with Yahoo could help Microsoft battle Google’s growing dominance in the area of online search. But it will face a major challenge in integrating the two companies – and a bitter hostile takeover battle could make it even harder to encourage Yahoo employees to stay.”
Asks Waters:
“And why is everyone impatient? It feels a little like the future of the web is on hold while MS makes up its mind what to do next.
“Will our online future be decided by two companies (MS and Google) or three?”
And it’s all over advertising.
